Hi,
last night I was dreaming about a MChuthulu like Plugin.

I know I can use MFactory as a MIDI ARP for other Synths (Not in Logic Pro X but on Reaper) (Maybe another Reason to go away from Apple because AU plugins are not as versatile as VSTs )

So how would be a MArp or MChord or best MArpaChord :hyper: standalone Plugin.

Oh! Didn't realize that MSF's arp sends MIDI out—Thank you! Doing that now in Logic via the redoubtable Blue Cat Patchwork:)

So, MSF is already MArp! (As are MDrummer and MPS…and all nicely modulate-able.) Not that I'm trying to discourage ANY interest in Melda MIDI FX; I'd LOVE to see some. But that's already been asked and answered (in the negative by Sir Melda himself, sorry to report.)

Marp would be awesome +1

I use BlueARP over Cthulhu, that's the only free plugin I'm still using.
But I feel there's a huge void to be filled in the vst market for arpeggiators, especially since Nora was abandoned.

It does seem that there's little going on, and much going away, in the [only an] arp-plugin world:(
The coolest new entry I know of is the wonderful, and inexpensive Hornet Hatefish.

But there's still plenty of punch and promise out there in the [NOT only an] arp-plugin world. Loomer Architect will hopefully be the king of the MIDI hill soon-ish, but in the meantime I'd propose Reaktor as the most powerful MIDI plugin processor that's current, non-beta, and unlikely to be abandoned. It's got both an amazing hoard of existing User Library MIDI FX (UL Search: arpeggiator: 64 results) and all the tools needed to build more, link existing devices together and modulate basically anything.

Reason is another MIDI monster that will hopefully soon get its MIDI-out act together (both from hosted vsts and from its own vst, the Reason Rack), but is still very useable in other daws using MIDI loopback devices.

Plus there's always Kontakt. It's also a great MIDI-out device even with no library loaded, via many built-in scripts, but of course there's a ton of fascinating libraries that themselves have unique and deep MIDI smarts, EG: Cracklefield, not to mention Arpology.

Here's another useful KVR topic on all MIDI plugins.

Captain Chords and Melody are worth mentioning here too.

HY Plugins is all you need. Try them and you´ll never look for anything seq / arp related again
Its over for Bitwig--CUBASE WON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Big fan of both CaptainC/M and HY stuff, esp. the Seq Collection; that one's an amazingly useful multi-purpose MIDI FX with both great sequencing and deep modulating features.

But neither of those are arpeggiators in any traditional sense, in which RT or sequenced MIDI input (Captain Chords' strong suit) sets the number of notes as well as the pitches being cycled through, as in the Melda Arp. Simply transposing a given sequence isn't arpeggiating.

Are any of the HY devices actually arpeggiators or able to do that? I've tried all the free versions, I think, and don't recall seeing that option, but certainly could have missed it.

And cool as they are, there's NO way I've stopped exploring other MIDI FX after checking out and being really impressed by the HY devices. I'd be missing so much! Such as Hatefish, which is the only Euclidean arpeggiator I've ever seen.

Of course, stacking MIDI FX is where the fun really starts, which is why it'd be great to have any other MIDI devices from Melda besides the cool arp; hope Vojtech changes his mind of that score some day.

Well, everything I can say is that I have / had almost every creative midi device, midi effect (chord capable ones as well..) that exists because I am too a huge fan of such tools and gear and a sound design / experimental stuff guy but after diving deep in HY, I never used something else again. Never looked back really. There is absolutely no musical genre I know of that is not covered by HY Plugins. You are of course right, the HY plugs are not dedicated arpeggiators but I tend to combine sequencers with Max for chord progressions and chord usage if I need them. And Max is a universe of creativeness regarding chords, scales, tuning, random stuff and what else.

The other thing is, no matter how many awesome midi effects and possibilities we already have at our disposal, we will never stop to demand for more. And this is not a good thing if you ask me. We already have so many creative midi capable effects that we could produce myriads and myriads of songs, sounds and everything music and sound design related. But instead of just making music and sounds we always ask for more.
And I'm not pointing my finger at anyone except me!

now you got me dreaming of MSwissArmyMidiKnife, a tool that could modify velocities, timing, pitch, voices et cetera with all the usual unrivaled Melda flexibility :hyper:

UVI Falcon has just added two euclidean rhythm generators in the latest update. They are really nice!
Now I'm off to see what this HY midi stuff is all about, quite excited actually!

Well, yes, I DO always ask for more, and these are certainly great times for that:) And that HY Seq Collection (the first of all his tools that gelled enough with me personally to warrant going beyond the free version) would definitely be my desert-island MIDI FX choice, always assuming I could use it in conjunction with a MIDI meta-tool like Max or Reaktor, AND inside a great MIDI daw like Logic or Live or Bitwig or Reason, etc. :):)

And, yes, I certainly agree that too many tools, and an over-abundance of options, can definitely get in the way of creativity.

But I do love how often a new tech tool gives me a fresh angle on the basics of what I do.

In fact for me, exploring and keeping track of music tech is as much my passion as music-making—even more so, actually. It's music tech that makes music-making both possible for me, AND interesting enough (considering what a deeply ordinary musical talent I am) to warrant spending as much time on it as I love to do…

It's also the main aspect of my interest in music that's worth talking about, or even possible to talk sensibly about IMO, in the first place as part of any sort of community, frankly, especially a global one like KVR. If all KVR was about was actual music, I'd have been long gone, long ago! I'd be off gazing at architecture and natural wonders while listening to it:)

So, I'd love to hear more about your favorite HY tools! As mentioned, not many have so far made an impression on me, except for that excellent Seq Collection 2.

PS/EDIT: My definition of a real musical talent is someone who can captivate others with NO music tech! Someone who can dazzle you with a stick and a log—or just by whistling:)

Yup, loving the new Falcon! Especially stacking up some Script Events with those Euclid thingies:) If ONLY Falcon had MIDI out like MSF!!
