Seriously, don't waste your money on a DM. There are a ton of free synths that can create 80s sounds (even if not directly emulations of certain synths)

learn a bit more about synthesis and music making in general before splashing out. You may find yourself just as limited on the DM if you're not really sure what you are doing.
I don't agree one bit. Listening through the 1024 presets in DM will set you up pretty good of what it can do. A really wide range to start off making your own stuff.

You will need some kind of keyboard if to do computer recording anyway. DM is well equipped with aftertouch keyboard and all you need. To get a midi keyboard that has that - you are almost up there moneywise anyway.

And having DM will also allow one press of a button and sit and play and fool around a bit. Also making sounds is much more fun and accessible in DM than with mouse in computer.

I think a DM will be very wise investment. Even DM6 is well suited for the job - I love the compact size of it.

That is a complete bullcrap, not sorry. :dog:

You dont need keyboard if you dont know how to play and aftertouch ? not everyone needs it.
DM is equiped with PRESETS as many OTHER synths with f PRESETS. But you dont buy a synthesizer that can synthesize a sound for PRESETS :dog:

If you want to make a career out of it as an artist who performs, you would be surprised how age matters for stage apearance, because you can attract younger crowd, means more money for promoter, bookings agency, management.

You better look out so you don't hurt yourself there. ;)

I dont understand what you mean by that but you dont buy a hardware synthesizer just to play its factory presets, especialy for synthwave type of music, whose sounds are already more generic default sounds already that you can find in any synth factory bank :)

Here is an emu of a synth from the 80s that has cool presets for 80s music

But where do I plug in Stereo TRS cables? Are they two different cables, one for L, and One for R? Or is it L and R going into one singular cable that plugs into the audio interface?

What Audio interface should I get for Stereo TRS Cables?

I have, I still can't seem to find it, though.

Most stereo synths can be monitored either in stereo (using 2 x trs cables, or in mono (out of the right output) using a single trs cable. You'll need an interface with 2 or more inputs for stereo.

The only person I know who bought a DM bought it for exactly that reason. He loves that it has lots of presets. In fact he just bought it a 3rd party preset pack. Not everyone is a sound designer.

It can be a little confusing because three wire trs cables are used for more than two different things.

For most "higher quality" synths with trs there are two trs output jacks and you use two cables to connect them to two mixer or interface inputs.

That kind of balanced trs uses three wires (one in common) to carry two different copies of only one channel. Which can be less subject to interference compared to tip sleeve two wire cables.

But the exact same kind of ring tip sleeve plug, jack, and cable is also used to carry unbalanced stereo in a single cable. That is how rts headphone cables are wired. The three wires use one common wire, then one tip wire carries a single copy of the first channel and the sleeve wire carries a single copy of the other channel.

But the stereo rts is unbalanced and more subject to noise than the mono balanced rts which uses the three wires to carry two redundant copies of the same signal, and needs two such cables to send a stereo pair.

A few small cheap synths use a single stereo rts output jacks rather than a pair of mono rts jacks, to save money and take less space in tiny synths.

And about all synths have rts single cable stereo headphone jacks regardless whether the main outputs are tip sleeve, or ring tip sleeve, or xlr.

It is just two entirely different things that just happen to use the same kind of plug and cable.

In fact I have a couple of V3 Sound nice little synth modules that have rts stereo phones jack plus a pair of rts main outputs, for tje main two channel balanced stereo output.

However the little synths can also be set up to send unbalanced stereo out of the two main outputs. When placed in that mode the little synths have four audio outputs on two cables, rather than two audio outputs on two cables. You get different left and right channels from the first out jack and different left and right channels from the second out jack.

That V3 Sound feature of being able to choose is fairly rare. It just shows how the same jack and cable can do two different things, though in most cases you can't pick how a jack behaves. Usually if a jack is stereo unbalanced then it is always stereo unbalanced, and if it is mono balanced then it is always mono balanced.

Makes more sense to ask in the music hardware section of a music forum for musicians. I wonder if you know of any? :P

im not surprised by anything like this, it's been a thing for years. talentless hacks used for their looks to take in cash for a promoter...

good musicians on the other hand, who can communicate with band members both musically and socially, are always going to find work, even when they lose their youth.

I doubt it. I think it was more a generalization about the music biz preferring younger faces ... :)
