Now you're just lying. "literally every developer asks you to pay for upgrades" - incorrect. There are so many examples of devs that don't ask for paid upgrades...robotmonkey wrote: Wed Oct 30, 2019 7:23 pmYou don't have to renew WUP indeed. It's necessary only in certain cases. But then again, literally every developer asks you to pay for upgrades.Izak Synthiemental wrote: Wed Oct 30, 2019 6:48 pm Yeah, but you don't need to renew "WUP" to use your plugins or am I missing something? Also, I highly doubt that Waves WUP policy is compliant with European Union (biggest market for Waves) consumer regulations! They would clearly lose if the matter became subject to legal scrutiny!

There was some reference on the website to the fact that Waves Central does not uninstall an older version if upgrading to new. Does this mean that you end up with v10 AND v11 versions of the same plugs if you upgrade them? Is there any way of avoiding this if so?

You can uninstall V10 plugins from within the Waves Central application. I am not quite sure what happens if you install V11 without uninstalling V10 first. But if you remove V10 and then install V11 all the projects you did with V10 plugins load as expected with the V11 plugins.noiseboyuk wrote: Wed Oct 30, 2019 10:45 pm There was some reference on the website to the fact that Waves Central does not uninstall an older version if upgrading to new. Looks like thay have shady marketing strategy. They gave a halloween discount, about 30% I think.. So I went to their website and I saw that they bumped up the base price for some plugins.. So where is the discount after all? I will tell you what is the problem with waves, just like with many other companies in the audio industry. It's old. The whole mindset of those companies is old and obsolete. still in the 80's and 90's. I think the best example for this is our "industry standard" - pro tools. Can't be more outdated and obsolete than pro tools. Sorry for being a hater for one day

No, you can install v10 with the new waves central.sprnva wrote: Mon Oct 28, 2019 11:23 pmIf you buy a new V11 plugin you can still install the V10 version (and even V9 if you like).Niowiad wrote: Mon Oct 28, 2019 10:33 pmI have several plugins in the Waves wishlist but if I buy anything more, that comes with V11 and would bring the multiple version headache.
I'll cling to V10 for as much as I possibly can, which literally means I can't buy further Waves plugins
You need to grab the V10 offline installer to do this. The V11 FAQ on the Waves site covers this.

It automatically removed v10 plugins when I upgraded the license on their web, and then I had to install v11 manually but it replaced the old one automatically in all projects.noiseboyuk wrote: Wed Oct 30, 2019 10:45 pm There was some reference on the website to the fact that Waves Central does not uninstall an older version if upgrading to new. You have the upgrade the license under your account firstLeVzi wrote: Tue Oct 29, 2019 12:21 am Well after installing Waves Central V11, installing all licensed plugins, and many are in WUP, not one is V11 , so wtf was the point, well done Waves.

Yes, the whole bundlesteve.lindqvist wrote: Mon Oct 28, 2019 8:06 pm A brief side question: Does the WUP always have to be bought for a whole bundle (e. g. Gold) or is it possible to update single plugins within a bundle?
So if I only need 2 plug-ins within a bundle, it would make more sense in terms of future upgrade prices to buy just the single plug-ins instead of the whole bundle with many plug-ins (which I don't use, but for which I have to pay for updates), right?

I upgraded on waves.com first, then updated waves central (forced). My upgraded v10 were automatically removed and then I had to reinstall the v11 version. It did replace the old version in all sessions though.jochicago wrote: Mon Oct 28, 2019 7:58 pm This is tricky but for anyone that already went through the process,
If I download the V11 installer, and half my plugins have been upgraded to v11 and the other half are still v10, what exactly happens? Would I end up with double versions for the ones I currently have as v10 but then upgraded to v11?
Or do I lose the installs for the v10 duplicates (or do I manually uninstall those?)
... and will existing sessions know to open the V11 versions?

Same here, I upgraded the plugins which were still under WUP to V11 via the website, and left the expired ones at V10. I installed the latest Waves Central and within a minuter or two, it had automatically removed the V10 versions of the updated plugins and installed the V11 versions, while leaving the remaining V10 plugins completely intact and functional.
Apart from the Renaissance series, I can not tell any difference whatsoever between those plugins which have been updated and those that are still on V10 (on Windows 10). I see no reason to pay ~$90 to update them to V11. There's literally no way to tell whether they're V10 or V11 without checking in the About dialog.

Take a single oscillator, producing a drone. Send it to the wave shaper, altering the tone.
This can be a triangle, Sawtooth or a square. Modulate the pulse width, nobody will care

This. In fact, in my particular case the v10 plugins replaced by their corresponding v11 versions were moved to a subfolder called "Unused v10 plugins" inside the main "Waves" folder. It was really transparent.mixtur.se wrote: Thu Oct 31, 2019 7:30 am I upgraded on waves.com first, then updated waves central (forced). Had to resort to the offline installer because my download kept getting choked at 1 or 2%.
1. Made sure Waves Central was up to date.
2. Went to the Offline Installer Tab in Waves Central and browsed for Waves - 28.10.19.
3. Crucially, the Offline Installation Folder I had downloaded needed to be placed directly on the Desktop and not within another Folder on the Desktop. C:\Users\Aloysius\Desktop\Waves - 28.10.19

Did you try simply waiting it out? Mine also froze at 1% for a long time, then completed the remaining 99% very quickly. If you have a lot of plugins I imagine the freeze could last longer.Aloysius wrote: Thu Oct 31, 2019 10:51 am Had to resort to the offline installer because my download kept getting choked at 1 or 2%.
