I hope some of these developers decide to split and run their own shows. There are a few good ones in the PA ‘fold’ who could do just fine without all the marketing and pricing chaos. As for the rest: I would happily never see an ad for most of them. Clearly they are the real beneficiaries in this ‘alliance’, hanging on the coat-tails of the good dev’s to get undeserved attention. It’s annoying; and I will (continue to) spend money elsewhere.
IMO, PA has run its course and must be put out to pasture.

I actually thought that their past flexibility regarding vouchers was a deliberate part of their business model I gave away a few vouchers here (didn't sell them) and figured that they made a sale that they would otherwise have not gotten from me. i picked up a plugin recently from PA and had previously assumed that I wouldn't given their recent track record. I have a lot of the plugins now but my buying dropped off in the last 18 months. In that case it was the voucher combined with a pretty good discount that further encouraged the sale.
I hope they find their footing again but it doesn't look good from where I stand.

What PA are doing makes sense but they should have done it long ago for people to accept paying slightly more for their plugins.
Now however, no one is likely going to fork out money for items that they've seen they could buy in the past for next to nothing.
They actually have two problems: existing plugin line is heavily saturated on second hand market and everyone kinda sorta owns them anyway (bought and then sold off second hand because they are generally subpar to superior competition). Other problem is the newly released ones and future releases all carry that ridiculous inflated price tag that no one will ever spend on, voucher or not. So I dont see their voucher move as a smart one, it only will lead to less customers. Perhaps it will lead to the odd new subscription customer but really they are likely to lose interest from customers.

Maybe it’s a bit cheeky to ask then but does anyone have a $25 PA voucher I could “borrow”? I’ve given previous vouchers away for free in the past.

I'm surprised they still have it because the way they currently do it is incompatible with their subscription model. I decided to buy into that for the first year. I came in at the cheapest tier and wanted Lion, so I felt it is worth a try. Although I have admit that, so far, I have cancelled almost every subscription I had after a year or so. Usually a subscription gets me find out what I really want and I then I buy that either at a sale or second hand here on KVR and cancel the subscription.JerGoertz wrote: Fri Nov 01, 2019 1:35 pm TBH I'm surprised the PA unrestricted voucher scheme lasted as long as it did.
The weird thing is that PA keeps sending you "loyalty vouchers" even if you have a subscription. And they keep heavily discounting their plugins. It took me about a month a question the value of the subscription (the fact that Lion sucks helped), which is a new record for me. I have a certain feeling that there are quite a few people out there who feel the same. So if they want to keep subscription customers they will eventually need to discontinue this heavy discounting. I would not be surprised if that is what the wanted to do in the first place but then chickened out after the sh*tstorm they encountered when they introduced the subscription model.

Does this apply to Composer Cloud about which I thought you were quite enthusiastic and which I've been considering?mgw38 wrote: Sat Nov 02, 2019 8:22 amAlthough I have admit that, so far, I have cancelled almost every subscription I had after a year or so. That is actually the one exception. But I have an educational account and the 14.99 a month are really hard to beat. Plus they do allow you to use an educational account for commercial projects, which is quite unique.musical wrote: Sat Nov 02, 2019 1:41 pmDoes this apply to Composer Cloud about which I thought you were quite enthusiastic and which I've been considering?mgw38 wrote: Sat Nov 02, 2019 8:22 amAlthough I have admit that, so far, I have cancelled almost every subscription I had after a year or so. I want to add a small aspect about the Composer Cloud. I had it for a year and cancelled...not because it served no purpose. In fact I used most of the libraries, and a few of them...quite often. But it really told me what I wanted and would use. Offering a hefty discount at various times throughout the year enabled me to purchase them. Had I not been able to "try" the software out, I would have been hard-pressed to know its value and subsequently buy them. I own most all of EWQL's catalog now.
So...while I am not against a subscription scheme, and I love the idea of good discounts and the ability to purchase at anytime I want (just in case Roland is reading...cause their subscription scheme really is a dog and a money grab), that is the real value of a subscription to me. Try before I buy.

I'm always recommending composer cloud because these libraries are not returnable. It is worth it if you are thinking of buying to try them out for a month. The other thing I love about composer cloud compared to other subscriptions is you can get it for a month, bounce your tracks to audio, quit, and buy another month when you need it. No other subscription allows this as far as I know.thejonsolo wrote: Sat Nov 02, 2019 3:55 pm I want to add a small aspect about the Composer Cloud. That's how I do it too. I bought the hard drive and the libraries are installed but I only activate the subscription when I am needing the libraries specifically when Komplete Ulitmate CE isn't quite what I am looking for. I actually think it is a really good value given the depth of the library. This and Adobe Creative Cloud are the two subscriptions that I find worth the cost.dzilizzi wrote: Sat Nov 02, 2019 5:24 pm

Is this a decent price? I am thinking of it. I have been using IK Amplitube 4 for a few "bluesy" projects. It's good but I have to admin, did really like the sound quality of S-Gear when I demoed a few months ago. I just wan't crazy about the interface ---- but I can get used to it if I have to.
