And so true as the fact that "you upgrade when you need" so often brought doesn't change the fact that updates are always important and even in 1 year a lot of things can change and needs updates; also looking at the situation and the image bitwig is presenting, users need to wait for some special day because sometimes they can't afford the $170 a year overpriced update.antic604 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 14, 2019 11:41 amSo true! Like all those people going around the internet you have to pay $169 a year for Bitwig, where in fact throughout the year you can get it for $129 AND that you DON'T have to upgrade every year...JunSev wrote: ↑Thu Nov 14, 2019 8:23 amThe problem you might find (even despite you might find some answers) is a lot of biased advises like "come on... use this one, buy this product"... and you have to be careful with all of that.
For instance, I dislike completely the $170 a year for updates bitwig is asking and how overhyped is.

I recommend the OP to demo and test and see what is the best for him, "what's the best" can be very subjective and sometimes some people will talk in favor of their interests and talk badly about others products in order to convince You that you need this or that product (sometimes this could be considered dirty playing).
Don't follow hypes or propaganda, demo demo.

I think the updates are pretty cheap, so far you have never needed to update more than once every 18 months to get 'everything' as soon as its out in beta and I have never paid more than $120 for the update, but hey-ho, you cant please everyone. Cubase (which I also use) costs me more to keep up to date with all the paid 0.5 updates....
As a general rule I don't look at the cost, I look at the value 'to me'. I actually own a copy of FL from one I was involved with Synthmaker (Flowstone) and I don't use it at all (its not even installed anymore), so its 'value' is zero to me even with free updates and you cant even sell it so factor the zero re-sale value in to the cost....

I purchased FL Studio a few years ago, but I never got really comfortable with it. I just does not fit my workflow. I am a long time Cubase user, but have room for other DAW's that are more clip based. I also tried Ableton Live, but although very close, at the end it was also not really my "piece of cake", and I sold my license.
After trying out a limited version of Bitwig that I got with an MIDI keyboard, I was sold. Within a few months I had bought the full version and I am really happy with it. The Cubase and Bitwig combination has everything I need. Of course I still have my FL Studio installed (it's a for-life license you cannot sell), but I have not touched it since I got Bitwig. For me Bitwig Studio is by far the better of the two, especially if you like to experiment a lot (I love the modulators and the grid). That's not to say FL Studio is bad or something, but working with Bitwig Studio just sparks my creativity far more than FL Studio has ever done.
This is just, of course, a personal opinion.

^^^ yepp DAW choosing is always depending on your prefered workflow, for ex. scale highlighting and chord auditioning tool (for triggering Nora vst) based workflow is simply not exist in Bitwig
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LndPxK6GQXs
I really like FL as a chord progression scratchpad, with scale highlighting the intervals and different chord qualities can be seen clearly without any further thinking

Really. No one can tell you which you would prefer. Download and try them. Thoroughly. Don't get anxious and go off your first impression. Little things can bite you.

The "performance mode" in FL is to launch clips, not for recording.

A) Overhyped is 100% a opinion
B) Opinion on their business model is instead of charging for a new version you pay to have the latest version and all upgrades for a year,
Well I bought Bitwig and it stayed Version 1 for years. It still worked perfectly well for me. I didn't upgrade till version 3. I bought it for the price of a typical VST Synth and the grid is a crazy synth and fx all in one and was a great deal.
If that is what it takes to get the DAW developed Im all in. I think paying $129 (That is the sale price a few times a year) is worth it for me but I was able to do everything with Bitwig 1.
-------------------
Bitwig is my DAWs and UHe and Tracktion Synths are my Bae. I maybe buy one synth a year. REMEMBER SELF just one synth a year!

I was replying to the statement "FL hasn't got clips (launcher) based workflow", there was no mention of recording.Halonmusic wrote: ↑Fri Nov 15, 2019 2:34 aminkwarp wrote: ↑Fri Nov 15, 2019 12:28 amYes, it's called "performance mode"..Halonmusic wrote: ↑Thu Nov 14, 2019 11:35 pmYes it does. It is overpriced, period; and a lot of bitwig users need to wait some "special day" because often they can't afford it.SLiC wrote: ↑Thu Nov 14, 2019 6:47 pmWow, they being out frequent important are really cool updates...the bastards!JunSev wrote: ↑Thu Nov 14, 2019 6:29 pmAnd so true as the fact that "you upgrade when you need" so often brought doesn't change the fact that updates are always important and even in 1 year a lot of things can change and needs updates; also looking at the situation and the image bitwig is presenting, users need to wait for some special day because sometimes they can't afford the $170 a year overpriced update.antic604 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 14, 2019 11:41 amSo true! And what has Flowstone to do with any of this conversation? we are talking about The Daws here, not about something that doesn't even come with the IL installer; is about The Daw, like come on... you can try but make some fair points...
With all respect SLiC.
