Good question, no idea as I never used Halion. One thing sure, it sounds pretty good and it's fun to use and easy to rapidly transform the sample.Echoes in the Attic wrote: ↑Sat Nov 16, 2019 10:07 pmJust curious - Is it sort of an easy version of the resynthesis in Halion? Must be related eh?Neon Breath wrote: ↑Sat Nov 16, 2019 8:40 pm Don't underestimate the spectral resynthesis in the new Padshop 2 update, it sounds very good and buttery smooth. Quite impressed.
Best resynthesis instrument?

Cool sound but I found it way to complex to do anything useful with. Where wavemapper is fun and pretty easy, Infinite I just could not see myself being able to tweak anything to become something useful. Maybe that's just me, I'd be interested to see videos or examples of sound design with it, I've only seen a few.

+1 for Icarus for very flexible and usable resynthesis options with great sound.
+1 for PPG Infinite if you want something that feels new, original, complex and different but really needs substantially more time to get used to (if ever lol). I use it nearly exclusively for experimental stuff.

Not bad but as much as I LOVE Rapid (top 3 synths imho), the results of its resynthesis are very unpredictable and can go from excellent to aweful.
Please don’t read the above post. It’s a stupid one. Simply pass.

Doesn't Image-line stuff work on Mac if it's running in FL Studio?

For spectral re-synthesis:
Alchemy 2 (Logic) - also does additive re-synthesis
Metasynth
Padshop 2
GRM Evolution (it's not a synth but...)
For wavetable re-synthesis:
Icarus
HALion
...and the modal filter and additive oscillator in MSoundFactory are pretty awesome for analysing static snapshots of a given sample.

+1 for Icarus and Halion. And the new spectral oscillator of padshop 2 is pretty awesome. Now we just need wavetable or spectral resynthesis in Falcon and my world is complete. Well after maybe a RMX update and resynthesis in Omnisphere 3 and.... ok it’s never done .

Sure. It's like Wavetables. If you throw in shitty stuff, you will get shitty stuff. But generaly the Rapid Resynthesis is very strong. Aiyn Made a youtube video about it.

And here are two examples I made with it:

So since you have Padshop in the spectral category, does that mean it's totally different from Halion's wavetable based resynthesis?Sampleconstruct wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2019 1:04 pm For spectral re-synthesis:
