Drum Enhancer Changes my Samples WHY?

I put samples into Drum Enhancer and I just want to use it as a Drum Replacer.
But it puts the same crap across all samples. Why is there not a mode that just gives you the pure sample.
It tracks so great and is way better than anything else I have tried.
It puts a sort of reverb on the sample and destroys all the top end.
The length control is doing very strange things. it does not change the length of the sample it changes the EQ drastically.
The sustain control just adds a sort of reverb to the sound and when it is turned of it is still there.
Is anybody using this. I would not think so as it sounds like a mess.
The code must have got corrupted.

From the website:
MDrumEnhancer is a unique tool that follows your drum track and synthesizes its own additional signal using samples to make it sound big and phat, without any of the problems that arise from traditional drum replacement. Add snare noises, improve bass drum's boom or snap, or even resynthesize the sound completely.

It´s not a sample replacement tool like slate trigger.

But I really hope we will get MTrigger from Melda in the near future  . Slate trigger still needs
an Ilok stick. There is a big market in the rock and metal genre for such a plugin, since everyone
uses slate trigger and many want to get rid of the Ilok. There isn´t any serious competition. SPL Drum XChanger is not in the same league.

Edit: There is also Drumagog 5 (released in 2011), Addictive Trigger (which can only play Addictive Samples as far as I know) and apTrigga3. Just for the sake of completeness.

Yes I understand all that.
But it seems like it would be very easy just to put another mode setting that lets it act as a drum replacer. All the hard work is done.
The length control seems to be not working correctly. It is acting as a random EQ changer. I am sure this is not correct as I thought length would just shorten the sample.
Also it would be great to be able to send Midi out to trigger say Kontakt Samples.

Try to use mdrumleveler. You can send midi triggers (Midi Out) to other vstis.
I’ve already asked long ago for a drum replacement inside mdrumenhancer, but the answer was no, development time.

Yes, the length control does sound strange. Almost like a resonant EQ but it doesn´t change the actual length of the sample.
A mode to trigger samples in MDrumenhancer would be a first step but a dedicated plugin with all the functions of Slate trigger
(and more) would be amazing.

Actually, it would need to be a completely separate plugin. This does not have a threshold to determine when to trigger a sample. It rather uses resynthesis to wrap a sample around the input. Think of it more like a vocoder than a drum replacer. It is supposed to be used to change the sound character of your drums, not to layer samples on top of them. The point of this different approach is to eliminate the problems of a detector not correctly triggering the samples.

In MXXX you can make a drum replacer, use MDrumLeveler to trigger MDrumSampler. Its pretty simple to set up.

Hey jmg8
I understand. Now I know how it works.
I will give MDrumLeveler MDrumSampler a go.
Thanks Spencer

I cant get MDrumLeveler midi triggering MDrumSampler inside MXXX1
Anybody know the trick.
MDrumLeveler is generating Midi and Midi Out is switched on.
How do I make MDrumSampler receive that midi.
I am in Studio one.

Not tested it to be honest. I will take a look when I get time. But in the meantime, you could attach a modulator in follower mode to the trigger parameter in drum sampler.

...ok, I'll bite...did you mean MDrumSampler = MDrumEnhancer? or MDrumSampler = MDrummer? as the sound engine?.../s~

Well I have MDrumSampler triggering with a modulator follower perfectly.
I just cannot work out how to trigger velocity. I dont know where to get a velocity source from.
Any ideas.

Hey guys I have it working. I will post preset here when I get version 1 done. Its really great. I have a preset dropdown where you select which drum you want. Kick Snare Tom etc...
MDrumSampler and MDrumLeveller inside MXXX1.
I am also adding notes as I go.
So far I am just doing Kick. But preset 4 is a Snare just to show you can select different sample banks.
