Both are currently on (steep) discount at JRR Shop and I always wanted them, but since I'm getting some other deals too I can take only one.

Sytrus is an FM synth with additive oscillator editing and subtractive filtering. Harmor is an additive synth on steroids, able to - for example - resynthesize samples and even pictures. I think I prefer Sytrus, because I'm a huge fan of FM, I like the sounds I heard from it and the GUI is much better laid out & organised. On the other hand at least 2 friends I asked about it suggested Harmor. Harmor is kinda scary to me, because with FM - once you "get" it - it's pretty predictable, controllable to an extent and quite versatile, whereas additive synthesis often sounds very sharp & galssy, which obviously has its place too but is not always desireable.

For context, I already have few FM synths (FM8, FM4 and PX7 in Reason, FM-4 and Operator in Bitwig and Live) and few additive ones (Razor, Loom, Parsec and Spectra in Reason). The music I make is - mostly - psychedelic trance.

Pozdrowienia.

I voted Harmor, but I highly recommend you Sytrus - because - as you wrote - you are huge fan of FM synthesis, and Sytrus also do RM. It's really great plugin, with almost zero CPU, sounds great and GUI is resizable. But in other hand if you already own FM8 (which is really great for FM synthesis), maybe would be Harmor good VST instrument extension for you.

Sytrus is included in FL Studio Producer Edition (and above) for free (FL plugin only) and I used it qoute often in my old projects. I purchased Harmor 3 years ago, but I rarely used it, so I asked FL Team to "erase" it from my licence. It sounds great - even it has it's own specific sound, but I rarely used it in my project and for me is Harmless enough.

Regarding to your music production would be Harmor perfect plugin. There are some nice Harmor tutorials on youtube from JediMaster Studio (from Poland). So, check them out!

Harmor is absolutely amazing. The resynthesis will blow you away. No contest for me, at least.

I love both equally but i voted for Harmor as its a beast. The gui is a bit strange but it is sound that counts.

Both are good. But I'd wait for one of their (at least) 50% off deals.

It's very frustrating to have (one of) the best FM synth at your disposal but not being able to work with it because it refuses to produce sound... Buyer beware.
You mean the velocity one? Thanks for pointing that out - I'll try to find if it was fixed. :tu:

The other thing to note about Sytrus is that it can't do mono+legato voicing in the VST version. It can do mono+retriggered, but not proper legato.

That's really the only thing I find lacking in it TBH.

Just tried them, they show 40%.
Of course, once added to cart, there's an additional discount, but still not down to 50% of MSRP.
These are products that are getting older more than better. Updates are free, but I've yet to actually see one in the few years I've owned Harmor. Seems the only thing really updated is the asking price. So if it's not at least 50% off, I can't quite justify buying either now unless it's more of a collection/GAS thing.
Both are good, and I've been waiting for a decent sale price to pick up Sakura (quirky trigger).
Still a little mad at JRRShop when they renigged on the deal they had for it. ($23.) Not ever expecting to get that price now, but definitely won't buy it at the current price either. (Bought Harmor for around $40. and even that was a concession from the old $28.)
Like I said, the only thing that's seem to change with them is the price.
Remember they're also NFR.

Sytrus in IL shop (or Plugin Boutique) costs EUR169 + VAT = EUR207 = $228

In blowout.hrrshop.com the price all-in is $66

That's much more than -40% to me, more like -70% :)

Your including VAT.
And I didn't know it was also in the blowout section. The links took me to their regular page where it shows as $69 marked down from $119.
(About $62 in cart.)

I'm including what the shop expects to me pay - some want VAT, others (like JRR) don't.

Also, 169 to 69 is -60% :)
