I assume that the "spectral oscillator" is nothing else than Halion's wavetable oscillator with 3 new parameter additions... ;)

No, it's got nothing to do with wavetables at all. It's a new invention.

Post

Is the spectral oscillator able to reproduce noise elements of an analysed sound?

Post

Actually it's not a new invention.

For Steinberg it is.

This is poor use of English.

Thank you.

Just curious: what is it with these quirky comments on people's English nowadays? Is it a joke from tv or something? I've seen in several threads here the last couple of weeks people stating sentences are wrongly constructed (as in who cares anyway?), when in fact there is nothing wrong with them. I don't get the joke. :?

Curious this discussion is.

Post

It's a hoax.

Post

Is hoax an English word at all?

Danger of derailing an interesting thread...
Maybe you could explain (happily in bad English, though yours is good) how that spectral oscillator actually works?

Post

I thought we could talk here about the new Padshop like grown ups. Almost every discussion ends up with personal insults or the usual "when is the next sale?" questions. So sad...

No, let's talk (pad)shop. I have now played around with it for a week or two and it is so inspiring! It really goes to show that good software does not have to be from last year or so. It is especially great with a good reverb, such as the Eventides (Blackhole or SP2016 in my case). Some software almost screems for a good reverb, and this is one of them.

I have listened to a lot of old DM songs lately, very carefully through my new studio headphones. It is interesting to hear how much sound they make with just a pad, some homebrewn samples and basic drumming and bass+lead. What the old songs all have in common is loads of reverb (also on the vocals). I guess Padshop + Eventide reverbs would be a good fit for similar, but future-looking music today (say, more like the soundscapes in the videos in this thread).

Yes, the “Purity“ parameter either enhances or subdues the noisy components of a given sample, this can also be modulated via LFOs, envelopes, the step sequencer and the controller lanes in the arpeggiator (which is quite a complex beast).
