LoveEnigma18 wrote: Sat Nov 30, 2019 9:47 am Damn, why did I come here! I absolutely love huge, spacey reverbs. Anytime. I am not currently making music where Comet would be very useful, but the lush sound and the glide features make it tempting.

Doesn't make sense to ask any questions about it, especially for the $29 price it is available at. Tempted to press the buy button...
Actually, I came to my senses yesterday after pitting it against Blackhole. I much prefer Blackhole's sound. Different flavors, but it didn't really give me anything I couldn't get with either Blackhole, the luscious Xenoverb (the perennial underdog) or B2. The preset glide is nice, but it's also the sort of gimmick I can't see myself using that often.
My VST folder's bloated enough as it is. If you're lacking in quality reverbs, though, this is an utter no-brainer.
Some good pointers there, thanks for your help. I don't have any reverbs you mention, so can't comment on them. Just demoing Comet. It is not useful on all material, but on vocals from Output Arcade, damn, it is sounding so beautiful. I am comparing it against most lush-y sound of Valhalla Vintage Verb or Room, but Comet is indeed sounding more rich, lush, beautiful, smooth, deep. Again, not suitable for everything, but a good special reverb. I agree with you about the glide though, it's not as useful as I initially thought. The only great thing about this reverb then is the sound.

I only have two Valhalla Reverbs (Vintage & Room), NI RC24/RC48, Waves Reverbs and IK CSR reverbs. I guess Comet could well be my last, special reverb? Do you think Comet would make sense considering I have these reverbs?

EDIT: Valhalla Room sounds quite lush and beautiful with certain presets/settings. Different sound than Comet, but that's the closet reverb I have in my arsenal to Comet.

Definitely! Comet's got this huge, unreal quality that is pretty special. Especially at this price, you'd be adding a whole new colour to your reverb palette.

Post

Wasn't looking for another reverb but this does something others don't. $29 was too good to pass up after demoing.

Can anyone help me understand how to use this as a basic reverb ie without any morphing/ gliding?

Post

It's quite well explained in their manual.

That convinced me. Just bought it. If nothing, it sounds incredible and is fun. :tu:

I clearly didn't understand it there, which is why I posted this question here. Can you help?

Morphing and Gliding are only used when changing presets or settings with the glide set to something above 0. If you don't want to hear the glide set the knob in the bottom left to zero(0).

I got it before it went to $29, but I am still very happy with it. I like the sound which is slightly different from the rest in my rather large collection of reverbs. I also like being able to use the glide and morph creatively which I already had something similar with Blackhole. Overall a steal at the $29 sale price.

The lowest value I am able to set glide to (in the demo version) is 0.15......

I'm sorry, you are correct. 0.15 is the lowest setting. However this is only for when you are changing parameters or presets. It has nothing to do with it functioning as a "basic" reverb.

I have really lots of reverbs and I have just demoed this one. It's similar to B2 and sometimes, with various settings, can sound similar to Aether, to Acon Verberate, to Breeze or to HD Cart. Anyway, it is never exactly the same as them and it has unique possibilities of its own. Still uncertain, but 29 dollars is really low for this quality.

Does this thing add any latency to the signal?
Don't F**K with Mr. Zero.

Don't think so, at least it's not noticeable to me. Also, the plugin does not report any latency (saw in the FL Studio "VST wrapper settings" of the plugin). Loving this reverb. I only have a few reverbs, but never thought I will buy a reverb again.
