Maybe you could put VCF after FMO and set it to AP Phaser 4, then tweak cutoff to change the phase?

Naah , that won't do it , and especially not when using the self feedback fm.
To get a perfect triangle you need to adjust the phase of the modulator
Modulator set to ratio 2 , a little bit of self feedback , and 180 degrees phase shift --all into carrier set to ratio 1.
It also has a dinstinctive impact on the attack/transient of the sound in general

Well, the 180 degrees phase shift has nothing to do with oscillator phase. It's just inverting the feedback signal.

Yes , true , and this does have an impact when it's used a modulator .
Is it too much to ask for a phase parameter ?

FM self2 (+) with FM amount set to about 15 is a perfectly usable trianglish wave. Good enough for me.

Yes , the fmo on itself is great , feedback , squared feedback , filtered feedback etccc.., no arguing about that , but that has nothing to do with the absence of a phase parameter .
Reason why I am asking for an additional phase parameter is because it has a significant impact on the attack portion of the sound when used as a modulator .
