Hey there people!

Just a very quick question: isn't Kickstart basically just easily achievable with MTremolo?

Here is a MTremolo or MTremoloMB single band preset:

Code: Select all

Offtopic / Ps: I hate calling it sidechain effect, while there is no real sidechain routing. :P

Edit: WOOOW, I just realized that there even is the "Sidekicker" device / global preset in MTremoloMB, haha. Sometimes I seem blind. :D

MRhythmizer will do the trick, too.

This is true, while it is a bit more complex to set up quickly, in my opinion. Well ... actually I guess nearly every Melda plugin would do the trick, if there is a MOD available and a volume knob, haha. :D

Sure you can use MTremolo to simulate ducking. I have used it for that purpose a lot myself.
Additionally you can use the same MTremolo Preset that you used for Ducking, goto "Advanced > Invert" to put it in inverted mode and apply it to your basedrum. Think about what that means - When Your "sidechain" slowely releases, i.e. the volumen goes up at the same time in the inverted preset the BDR volume goes down ... That might reduce the often troubling "interaction" between a long bass tail of your bdr and your synth bass.
The MB version is even funnier because you might want to scuplt your basedrum by removing a little bit of bass in the thump/attack phase and latter put more emphasize on the bass part and remove the mid/high parts...
The only problem is that this works properly only for 4 on the floor. for more complex/a bit more odd rhythmic patterns the setup might a bit trickier.

Hey, I made the "Sidekicker" device. It has 6 bands and one of the MPs makes the high bands duck less than the low. This basically makes it pump less, but effectively moves the low frequencies out of the way of the kick.

Yeah, I already checked this out and recognized that it is not just a plain volume ducking. Well done, jmg! :)
