How do I create gradual tempo changes?

I am trying to create a track that gradually goes from 116 bpm to 128 bpm over several bars. I can only find a way to enter tempo changes in the list editor which allows a definitive step jump. Is there any way to set tempo to 116 bpm at the time period I want the increase in temp to start and set tempo to 128 bpm where I want change to stop and have a gradual change. If I could record tempo changes in an automation track by using the tempo slider that would be great. But the only way I can see to do i require is by adding a ton of individual events in the list editor which I would have to manually calculate myself.
