I love this drumcomputer VST, but something is missing in the low-end, I have listen to most presets and still missing the low from the kick. I have compered the sound with the micro tonic vst drum synth and then listen again to drumcomputer. (Demo version) And the sound is a little hollow and thin. Is it me only? Otherwise I purchased this drum synth in a minute :)

I like the concept but Sugarbytes doesn’t commit to long term evolution of their products. I’ll pass on it until they wrap around and revisit their past products.

Exactly my thought. Their released are fire-and-forget. I've never seen a substantial update to one of their products.

Such a short time although so far I find the use in a 'mid band' lively expression. DC adds a lot in that range in very colourful and lively ways. It means in this case that it's a creative instrument on its own and not necessarily the only drum in the mix. Depending on the style of the piece, of course. I see it more on the percussive side while a 'standard' kick/snare from samples (Bitwig drum machine) or VST (MDrummer) can fill in in a simple way to provide anchor points.

About (lack of) updates: SB apps are working all right, they're like artistic expressions on their own. Artistic software. The only thing I'd miss is the UI scaling on previous apps. The first recent attempt with Thesys and Aparillo yielded a somewhat fuzzy UI which is OK, but could be better. DrumComposer has proper clean scaling and it would be nice if they ported that to the previous apps. I bet it could generate other sales. Apart from that, maybe different channel outputs for Consequence and Egoist. Other than that all is fine I find, no need for updates. On the musical creativity side there's so much to explore with these apps as they are right now. Not having updates does not prevent exploration when everything is working well as it's expected, no ?

Post

The lack of updates is in relation to evolution of the product. Thesys , for example, works yes... but it hasn't gained significant features other then the scaling (nice and thank you!) . I am not asking for free just a commitment to listening to requests and enhancing the product so that it has a life cycle. It is as if they lose interest in their own software.

Post

Yes, the lack of presence can be distressing. I wondered at times if the company was going under. And the feeling still floats around but is contradicted now and then by a new product. Still ... There's no obligation to be more present, but it sure is an added feature for support and comments and I'll bet that it could also bring in more sales especially here on KVR. Not that I do not have facebook, twits, instagroom and all that - which I don't and am certainly not planning to - but simply because KVR is dedicated to VSTs and music making.

About features, I find that every SB product has a lot of creative features to start with. If I could exhaust all current possibitlities ... which I'm far from. Only drawback since there are a lot of details packed in each app, is the lack of clean UI scaling for the previous apps. It kind of limits the time one can spend exploring.

Wow, if you’re saying it sounds thin compare to uTonic, that’s really thin.

Post

uTonic, as is, has sounds that have more bass. That's because of the sounds that are used. uTonic can sound like an acoustic drum if the right sounds are used, which is certainly away from its electronic nature.

But then, is that a point when the sounds in DC can be not only modified, but created ? It's a bit of a strange notion, if transposed to a synth instrument for instance: that synth does not have [insert type of sound] sounds. So ? Make some ! :) I mean, consider all the features of the synth. Is that a synth you'd like because of its features ? Are the features allowing you to modify the sounds in many creative ways ? Or perhaps, do you modify sounds at all in your instruments ?

Also, is DC your only drum/percussion instrument in your mix ?

"Hey Rico/SBs,

Hope you had a good rest!

———-

“ipad app: might happen in the future, maybe next year”

“might” & “maybe” hmmm..

Not sure how you develop your apps, but I would assume they would be (at least considered) cross platform from the get go (during coding) - considering it’s a new app, that most likely started developing ‘post’ iOS.

DC looks to be ‘the’ drum machine for me.
I felt a Love for it immediately, just from the vids.

Do we really need to get an iOS petition together, to show the need/want?

I was already checking the AppStore, until your response ^^ ... and also, almost wrote an email to SBs/Nadine, asking about iOS.

... Why would you tease us with such a great new app/software..

I have all the Sugar Bytes apps! Please make DrumComputer available for us too..

(... Drums and Bass (Cyclop) Mmmm...)

Cheers

P.S, Cheers you Guys for AUv3’ing’ Effectrix!

I Love Sugar Bytes Apps!"

Whoever make the drums for the video did good. I'd love to see a step by step how they sequenced and created those using this synth.
