The VST plugin on Linux and the equivalent MacVST both have the same issues.
They both take a very long time to load and both contain many of "unknown" items in their automation list.
The DAW software used: Ardour 5.12.0 (current stable)
The ready-to-run bundle of ardour for Linux.
The DMG installer --> Mac..
100% same issue.
However, the Biotek2-AU plugin also does to my discovery also has its share of issues,
With a spare Mac-Mini computer, I was able to determine that the Biotek2-AU has things not working as well, (I'm not a heavy Mac user, and I only noticed these issues just recent)
1) --> The AU plugin skips many automation items, and jumps to the end just by using down-arrow or page-down, -- now when getting to the last item, when the user starts doing page-up or arrow-up, there are new items that dynamically load into the list. So the "missing" automations that the user is counting on, can only be accessed by jumping to the end of the automation list, then applying up-arrow individually. This makes it difficult to assign a particular automations as the user is forced to go to the bottom of the list then hope that the item they want to access would dynamically load itself for the next item on the list when navigating back upwards. This is not user-intuitive, and makes it kind of difficult to specify particular things from the automation list.
2) --> The "Login" prompt to download new content is also frozen. The keyboard for typing inside the login field does not appear to be functional..
The "automation list" problem with the Biotek2-AU should be a good indicator as to why there are automation-list issues with the VST build.
There's something wrong with the "count" for automation items that must be overwhelming the ardour daw.
There's no stall issue when using Biotek2 on Waveform, but there was raised concerns that the many automations it exposes could be a problem.
I forgot where I read this, so I guess this must be something that should get fixed.
If the automation count could get fixed, that should make things work better for Linux-Vst plugin... Apparently it is not just Linux that is affected by the same bugs..
so Tracktion, can you please give this another look and get the automation-count limitted/resolved? I think this is impacting your plugin for both VST as well as the Mac-only AU build as well.
thanks
