I'm a bit confused here...

Am I right that the "Velocity Layer Mapping" in Multisamples replaces the "Velocity Layers" (see the two arrows)?

And how would one achieve a "Round Robin" style of sample select?

Open the Menu (top right).

This function freezes my DAW even if i select only two samples without loudness detection :(

Wow, that's a big window with lots of stuff. Time to study. Thanks 👍

elassi: No! They work together. First you have the MDrummer velocity layers and in each you have MultiSampler, which also has velocity layers in it :). It's quite rare to use both, but hey, you can ;).

Faiky: Note that this is NOT for samples. Please check this:

Anyways please send me what you tried to do, it sure shouldn't freeze even if the data is nonsense.

Ha! That tripped me up too. This is my current understanding. Think of it like this:
-- the Velocity Layers (VL) panel lets you define multiple layers for the drum kit piece,
-- you have got 1 at the moment, covering the full range of note velocities,
-- for each defined layer, you then specify / edit the source,
-- you have defined a multisample, which itself has 9 VLs,
-- and those are spread out over the range set in the VL panel.

So you can think of it as layers within layers. And, within any VL, the samples in that Group are used in a round-robin fashion automatically.

Have a look at this:
Image
-- I have 2 VLs,
-- the first one covers the high velocities and the second the low velocities,
-- each of those VLs is sourced using a Multisample
-- the Multisamples have 11 and 4 layers respectively so my kit piece has a total of 15 layers.

Yep, it's a beast. It has three main steps in separate panels - I collapse them all, then open one at a time. And it is powerful once you get what it is doing. :) Read the Info on the [?] buttons first.

DarkStar, looking at your pic on the left, in Layer Source/MultiSampler you have 'DarkStar' folder highlighted, then center_snare selected. I thought Melda's multisample format was proprietary? Ah, but is this a result of the new MultiSampleGenerator?

Elassi..round robin sort of things.
1/ Layer Source/ Multisamples. Like DarkStar said, the samples within each multisample layer will automatically RR. But see the 'Random order' button as well.
2/ Layer Source/ Sampler (or the others..Scratcher etc). In Velocity Layers panel you can set up say 4 layers using 4 slightly different samples that have been recorded to use as RRs (from say sample packs or your own things). For each layer set the velocity range the same (0%-100%) and set the mode to 'Random'. You could extend this by having groups of layers. E.G. 4 layers as above but for range 0%-30%, then another 4 layers for range 31%-70%, etc. Mind you, I don't usually bother with this (we have multisamples anyway) but good to be aware of this functionality and good for unusual creative use.
3/ And don't forget ADVANCED> Realisticity and Super-realisticity.

Oh, sorry, i meant another function :dog: .
Drumset Editor > Velocity Layers > Menu > Import multiple samples as multilayer
As soon as the question about the loudness analysis comes up, it freezes immediately. I can't click yes or no.

Yep, I added my own folder and compiled a multisample into it using the MultiSampleGenerator.
