Ive been trying to get my outboard gear to work with tracktion using the insert plugin. I went out of my interface, a Focusrite scarlett 2i2, into the line inputs on my preamps, 2 warm audio wa73's, and out back into the interface. I am monitoring using the headphone output.
In tracktion 6 or 7 I set up the insert plugin using stereo pair output and input, and I used the latency time adjust. I get sound but just as I turn up the interface output I get feedback as I start to hear the preamp.
Thanks for any info!

I can see this being confusing. Is the focusrite 2i2 basically stereo in / stereo out?
Tracktion is going to see the focusrite as master output and a 2-channel audio input, so you aren't sending a dedicated pre-master (via insert plugin) mix signal to the outboard gear, but a final mix output; and you're probably also monitoring the audio channel as well, so you will get feedback. You'd probably need a 4-in and 4-out (or 2 separate interfaces if they're stereo) to avoid crossing signals and causing the feedback.

Hi. Yes it is stereo in and out. What you said makes sense, I figured it was my interface. A better one is next on my list. THANK YOU!

Watch this - better explanation than I could put together...
Also shows using a "master track", some interesting VST, compression benefits, and outboard effects.
