Urs and team create instruments with such depth, I can't get enough! You guys make it FUN to create.

Someone had asked me about the Zebra choir patch so am posting it here in case others are interested.
The Zebra choir patch is "EH SimChoir" by the one and only Ed Harvey.
You can download it from the U-he PatchLib. And if you have not checked out the PatchLib you are in for a treat! THOUSANDS of free patches for all the U-he synths.
The direct link for Ed's EH SimChoir patch is here:

clangorous,
Not the style of music I normally listen to unless it is on a TV show, or a movie (which I think this could work for), though I like it! It is happy and joyous! Can I hit you up for the Zebra piano patch please? I'm kind of astonished that is Zebra; perhaps you layered the piano sound with something else?
Hope you are doing well.

Hey aaron, thank you for listening and for the kind words. Was definitely going for a cinematic sound. The piano patch is not layered with any other patches. One thing that helps with the realism is adjusting the beginning of each note by hand. It's a lot of work, but for chords especially, this helps to add a human-sounding touch. For single note lines using the DAW "humanize" function is faster. But to get the right feel the notes often need further adjustment by hand. Sometimes note beginning, end, and velocity all need tweaking.aaron aardvark wrote: Mon Dec 09, 2019 7:00 am ...Can I hit you up for the Zebra piano patch please? OSC1 uses a spectroblend wave arrived at through trial and error, with Exophase OSC FX. It also has a Comb Osc, and each has an LP Excite filter with a bit of keyfollow. Here is a link:

Use OSC1, waveform 1, for the piano sound in this track. Also, try out all the waveforms to find the one that works best in your mix. OSC 2 has some more waveforms as well.
The reason for all the waveforms...this patch is an older one arrived at when trying to create piano patches by focusing on the waveform. Had noticed that realistic sounding piano patches, and even sampled pianos, don't always sound like real pianos in a mix. Pianos are more difficult to mix than other instruments, at least to me. So instead of auditioning patches that sound "good" I audition patches in the context of the song to find one that works in the mix. This patch works well because you can cycle through the waveforms until you find one that works. Waveform 1 does seem to work pretty well in a lot of songs. Hope it works for you and others as well.
Enjoy!

Thank you Ploki! I'm slightly obsessed with creating natural sounding noises
Am thinking the reason beneath that is that it helps in learning how to use a synth. But no denying that it is fun when a sound seems to come together. Thanks for listening!

I wouldn't know, I usually use u-he synths just for minor things... they sound awful.

clangorous,
Thank you for the patch! It is common I will quantize something; then scoot notes slightly off-time manually if it sounds too robotic.
