True dat, brother.

Nearly 500 fixes and new features. Never seen anything like this amount of work put into a point update. :o

DP really are trying to get Ableton customers...

Indeed. It's typically something one would expect in a major release. Makes you wonder what they have up their collective sleeve for v11.

Just guesses here, but you saw them implement velocity meter before they implemented the Velocity tool and the ability to adjust velocity via the notes etc. It's likely that they do the same thing with the Spectral View.
DP is still used widely in the classical and film industry despite Cubase and Logics DAW dominance, I would think DP would get some sort of articulation expression maps like Cubase and Logic. Another obvious DP11 type feature would be a MachFive3 type sampler.
IMO though DP11 is at least other year off.

Who wouldn't? Live hasn't done anything truly remarkable in years now, but they took over the game for sure. Their original ideas were solid.

At one point it was Cubase, Logic, Pro Tools, DP, and Sonar was biting at the heals. Other DAWs were far behind. Now it's Cubase, Logic, Pro Tools and Live, with the rest biting at their heals.

I had the same problem. In fact, I couldn't uninstall DP 9.5 because of the same (or similar) expired certificate. I had to roll back the clock to complete the uninstall, set the clock ahead, find an expired certificate in the installer for DP 10, roll the clock back again, install, and set the clock to the correct time and date. Ridiculous. I should probably have made a techlink.

I am also scratching my head over the logic behind forcing me to either use VST 2 or VST 3, but not both. Several of the plugins I use exist only in one of the two formats, so I couldn't use the Reason 11 VST 3 and Kontakt in the same project for instance.

Edit to add: It also bugs me that they refuse to add Eucon support to the Windows version (it exists for MacOS)., so any ideas I had about using it with Avid hardware or PT | Control are out the window.
Same here. Expired certificate. To the rubbish bin this program went. :tu:

I hope you guys aren't the same ones complaining about Apple certification like it's a tyranny etc. Obviously MOTU haven't ponied up for a new installer. There's a similar situation with certain installers on Mojave and later where you have to change a setting in the security section to get drivers to instal etc. Not something I would trash a program for not being up on personally but whatever.

Pro's Pro Tools, Logic. New generation Logic X, Studio One (sort of), Fl, Ableton/Bitwig etc
Old Generation-Sonar, Cubase, Reaper. Studio One etc.

Nope, not complaining about that, but the expired certificate in the Windows installer does look terribly unprofessional.
It must be that literally no one is buying DP for Windows, otherwise there'd be more impetus to fix the problem.

If online presence is any indication it's making good traction, but there are still some hurt feelings about the initial bugginess of it's .0 release. MOTU are ridiculously slow on fixing bugs sometimes, I can say that's true for the other DAWs I use as well, but that's no excuse, the industry needs to change that way. :x

I was talking over all sales. :)
I dissect it this way
Folks coming from the DJ world- FL, Bitwig, Live.

Recording - Pro Tools. Logic, Cubase, DP second place.

Programmers- Reaper, Live, Bitwig (look ma I can write a script for my DAW! :hihi: )

Mastering- Pro tools, Studio One

Film - Logic, Cubase, DP

Jazz and nerds - DP, Reaper, Live, and Logic

Rock- Pro Tools, Cubase, Logic, DP

Simple, modern or UX oriented people - Studio One, Live, Bitwig, Logic.

I see DP trying to change up their market a bit by adding in Clips. Don't know how that will work? The younger generation is less about a large feature set than a small UX oriented one, and some access to the back end, hence Bitwig and Live being simple up front with Max and Bitwigs promised modularity underneath.

A full feature sampler is definitely a feature that DP could use.
