Help! I got weird MIDI latency on one project.

Hi, Mulab gurus,
I have a strange problem with one project. When I add an instrument rack and play a note on my MIDI controller there is a very perceptible delay between pressing the key and hearing the sound. It happens an all racks that I add. If I remove a rack and create it again the delay is still there too.
I do not know exactly how long is the delay, but it must be at least 100ms because it is very noticeable.
It happens with only one project. If I create a new project there is no delay.
I could, of course, make a new project and forget about it, but then I am not going to learn anything.
It is clear to me that I accidentally changed something in the myriad of Mulab settings and now this setting causes this effect. Is there some kind of log file that I can generate from that project and post it here?
It happens with Mulab 8.4.6.
TIA

Maybe you're using a VST plugin that has a process latency? Eg an FFT based equalizer like ReaFir or alike?

I do not use anything but Mulab's own Basic Synth from Templates on the rack where the delay occurs. But I have another instrument track with UVI Drum Designer on it, it is definitely time-based, it's a drum machine basically. If I remove that track the delay becomes almost imperceptible.
If the track is there, even not playing anything and muted, the delay is back.
Full disclosure: Drum Designer is loaded via UVI Falcon.
Also, I have UVI Drum Designer in another project and there is no delay there. So it's not the presence
of it per se that causes the problem.

When you load Drum Designer in Falcon, what is the reported latency? Click the gear in the menu bar then show info. Initial delay is the reported latency

But you can not load 8.4 project into 8.3 app. I can create a similar project in 8.3, but it would mean very little. When I create another project in 8.4 the problem goes away, as I mentioned already.mutools wrote: Tue Dec 17, 2019 9:36 am Does the delay also happen when you play the project with MuLab 8.3 ?

Have you saved the patch for Falcon/Drum Designer (FXP/FXB style), then deleted the instance, then saved the project (as a new file...), closed MuLab, opened MuLab, reloaded the amended project, added Falcon/Drum Designer and reloaded the patch?
(Short version: "turn it off and on"
)
If it still happens, try without reloading the patch (i.e. defaults in Falcon/Drum Designer).

Yes, I did something like this (more or less) and the problem goes away, but this was the whole idea of this post that I'd like to understand why it happens at all. I was hoping for some hidden diagnostic that I can generate and provide to the people who know how to fix it.pljones wrote: Tue Dec 17, 2019 7:35 pm Have you saved the patch for Falcon/Drum Designer (FXP/FXB style), then deleted the instance, then saved the project (as a new file...), closed MuLab, opened MuLab, reloaded the amended project, added Falcon/Drum Designer and reloaded the patch?

If it does, then it's a problem with Falcon/Drum Designer and you're best off asking their support.

Why not?
Do you get an error when loading that M8.4 project with the unexpected delay in M8.3?

My previous experience is that when I try to load a project saved with a higher version of M into a lower version of M it complains that it cannot be done (as it should, btw).mutools wrote: Wed Dec 18, 2019 9:31 amWhy not?

Please do try loading your project in M8.3. It will give a message that it's made with a newer version but that's just a message, not an error. Then check if you also notice the unexpected delay in M8.3. Then also recheck in M8.4.

Sorry, no luck. M8.3.3 just crashes if I try to load this project. Or any other project made with M8.4.6.Khr128 wrote: Thu Dec 19, 2019 3:53 amOk, will do.mutools wrote: Wed Dec 18, 2019 7:42 pm Please do try loading your project in M8.3.
