WE NOW HAVE A WINNER.
But ...
I'll have to keep the name of the synth secret a bit longer, because the game is still active on two other forums, where it wasn't found until now. Sorry for that, you were the fastest at KVR.
This said, for those who don't want to wait, if you want to get another -rather definitive- clue, just google this :
'Roncevaux horn'
And the name of the brand will appear

Thanks to all for playing
To Wag : I did not interfere in the other thread, because monitoring this one was already enough work, and, moreover, what if you had forgotten only one synth in your list but it was the good one ? Then, I did use your list at a given point to fasten the process and help another forum eliminate some synths. So thanks for that (and for them). And to BlackWhinny also, who participated a lot. And well, all of you !
I hope it was a pleasing game, and that people also discovered, like I did, a few synths they did not know. I tried to distillate the clues to make the game as interesting and fun as I could. It's not so easy, I made my best.

Ooooh so it's yet another Roland synth ?
I suppose it depends on which model but....Meh......

These were all the Roland guesses.
Roland Juno
Roland Jupiter 4
Roland Jupiter 6
Roland Jupiter 8
Roland MKS-80
Roland Promar
Roland RS-505 Paraphonic
Roland sh-5
Roland SH7
Roland system 100m.
Roland System 700
Anything here that's "rare"?

Well, I've yet to hear a Roland synth that I like the sound of so most likely I'll have zero interest in this emulation.
I still want to know where the "rare" is.

Without knowing for sure which synth it's actually going to be, would yet another Moog synth be any better?
I usually prefer Rolands, Moogs never spoke to me that much. But that's just personal preferences.
My personal opinion on this is, that it doesn't really matter which exact synth(s) you're using, they just have to be sonically, feature- and workflow wise up your alley so i don't need exact replications of some old synths of yore.
What i'd rather like to see if someone loosely approximated the basic sound of let's say a Juno or some other nice sounding stuff (or something completely unique sounding based on nothing in particular, as long as it's sounding nice), give it 3 oscillators, 3 envelopes, two multimode filters, MSEG, maybe patchable in a modular way, or the worfklow of something like Massive or Serum.

Fair enough. Anyway according to http://www.roland.co.uk/blog/beyond-retro/ the system 100 is 'ultra rare'.wagtunes wrote: Tue Dec 17, 2019 2:53 pmWell, I've yet to hear a Roland synth that I like the sound of so most likely I'll have zero interest in this emulation.
