Running Repro5 on my Macbook pro.

First post, hopefully in the right section.
I was trying to run the repro5 demo on my MacBook pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013, core i5)
Just loaded the plug into an empty 48k 24bit project in logic. I get an instant CPU overload message or audio/midi sync error.
Can this plug not run on my laptop? I've tried, HQ on/off, Multicore on/off. It doesn't really seem to make any difference.
Best,
Vers

Not sure with that generation of Core i5
For reference, with my MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015) 2.5 GHz Intel Core i7, adding Repro 5 to a 44.1k, 24-bit project at 1024 samples I/O buffer immediately introduces a 12.5% CPU hit. But it's fully playable.
Latest version of LPX (10.4.8 -- just updated today), on Mojave 10.14.6
Check to see if your I/O buffer is really low, and if so, raise it to max. A low buffer setting would likely cause Repro to kill any older CPU fairly quickly. Also check to see if the MCore switch makes a difference. On or Off may work better, depending on your system and how you're using the plugin with other things.

It also depends upon the patch. Some are real CPU killers. If you play big chords with long envelopes, it is very easy to drain the CPU. I have a 8th generation Core i3 running at 3.4GHz max and am able to use Repro 5 if I reduce polyphony to the minimum needed and watch my envelope release times. It is also a good idea to freeze tracks or render them to audio.

Did you find a solution already?
I have that very same model MBP (but thinking of upgrading when there's a 13" with the new butterfly keyboard). With certain presets it stutters when I play fat chords in Logic Pro X 10.2 (significantly better in Reaper). No "instant CPU overload message", though, so I also suspect it's your buffer settings.

MacBook Pro "Core i5" 2.4 13-Inch (Late 2013 Retina Display) features a 22 nm "Haswell" 2.4 GHz Intel "Core i5" processor (4258U), with dual independent processor "cores" on a single silicon chip, a 3 MB shared level 3 cache, 8 GB of onboard 1600 MHz DDR3L SDRAM.
Started at 64 worked my way up to 1024. Crackling no matter what on 8 voice chords.Check to see if your I/O buffer is really low, and if so, raise it to max. Less stutters and crackles when Multi core is turned off.
SM silver gates fat chord brings my CPU to 70-80% and it stutters like crazy at any buffer size.Did you find a solution already?

I don't have any of these issues with my desktop machine, so I'm still just trying to figure out if this is the expected performance from my laptop or if something not setup correctly /working properly.

Well, this is what you get with your machine. As far as I understand it, Repro already is very optimized, being the most accurate circuit modelled VA available.
Also you could have saved additional 10-20% CPU amount by not installing any macos update from latest 10.13.6 or higher, these updates come with nasty Spectre microkernel patches, which will generally slow down the Haswell generation a lot. Apple includes microkernel flash updates in their OS updates, unlike Microsoft, where microkernels are loaded not-permanently by software while booting (not flashing at all). So there is no going back here, once you installed the update. You also can download the update manually and then patch it, by removing the firmware directory, so it doesn't flash the cpu anymore.
I don't own Repro anymore, but on my 4770 not flashed haswell machine, it run quite well.

Not sure I follow you there. You also can download the update manually and then patch it, by removing the firmware directory, so it doesn't flash the cpu anymore.
Also I agree, on my Core i7 3770, I can run MULTIPLE instances of the plugs. It's running very well.
Hard to believe I can't even run ONE instance on the laptop, but maybe that's just how it is.
