Hi,

trying to understand how GenerateCustomMod works.
First I tried to modulate pitch of an oscillator (cent) with an LFO - works as expected.
Then I replaced LFO1 as mod-source with custom1 and put an LFO and a GenCMod on top of the oscillator in the mod matrix, so it looks like this:

LFO
GenCMod
Oscillator
|
...
|
1

Have set min to -1 and max to 1 and "Mute output" to on (also tried off here).
Expectation: Does the same thing as a direct LFO modulation. Result: does nothing.

This was just a simple test, the next step would have been to do some FM experiments by replacing the LFO with an audio rate oscillator, trying whether sample rate modulation between modules works.
But I'm already stuck with the LFO experiment.

One suggestion: The ? box per module is a very good idea. But please don't only document the parameters there but the overall purpose of a module. E.g. the documentation under ? isn't very helpful for the GenerateCunstomMod module, it can only be understood when you read the docu of the "custom" parameters in the modulation section first.

Have found out that the "Merger" module is another way to modulate one audio source with another (and for simple cyclic waveforms there is the dedicated FM module). Still would be nice to understand the custom mod concept :)

The genCmod need to be on another column and need to be before the mod source.
Don't forget to mute the genCmod audio output, inside the module if you use an lfo.

Here is a video I made a month or so ago that hopefully helps explain things.

Thanks a lot!
Your video tutorials for this synth are really great! :tu:
