I'm sticking to a few of them and I did not install a lot of them I own. I ended up installing basically about 15%-20% of them. And most importantly: I don't miss any of the ones I didn't reinstalled.
That's great. Not missing them is the most important take away here, and exactly what I have been feeling this month. :tu:
What do you do when you need to open up old projects though? I tried clearing my stuff out, but then a guy asked me to render down stems from some of my older tracks and I had to spend money to re-acquire plugins I had sold off.

What that did teach me was this: bounce down your tracks, especially if you’re using an iffy plugin.
Of course that needs to be taken into account, but that's more like a personal approach to music production. For me, if it's good and I like it and I can't think of a way to make it better, I fully commit on a regular basis. I have wasted too many precious hours in the past revisiting a song that didn't need revisiting, just to add a new layer, a new effect, a new anything (because there will be something new every month no matter what)... just to realize that the song does sound slightly different, but in its essence it does not become a better song, a more inspiring one. Seldom have I found that revisiting something I was happy with, has made it better. Therefore, I do commit if I'm fully satisfied. It solves a lot of problems, and it allows me to focus on new music. I feel that if and old project does really need to be revisited, maybe I should just fully recreate it. Committing also frees me from having to be attached to ancient software, or subscriptions, or things that no longer work (32bit!)... Anyway, just my personal take.

There's no special annoucement from MF. That being said, if you go here: https://www.musiciansfriend.com/music-s ... rowSideBar

You will see that some of the plugins/bundles can have another 50% discount by using the promo code HALF. So for example, you can get the SSL Bus Compressor for $17.50.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help. The only two I'm interested in aren't included in the "half"... anyway, a matter of days until they are $29 again... Thanks!

kidslow wrote: Sat Dec 28, 2019 9:55 pm I surmise a technical barrier along these lines, that they can't revoke the previous license that was issued granting access to the plugins that were transferred. Even though they can issue me a new key, nothing besides the concept of being honorable prevents me from continuing to use the old key that unlocked the plugin I just sold.
But that is true for any serial key based licensing system that does not call home.
Just an FYI, keys that were sold can be "blacklisted" in future plugin versions. I know some developers do this. As they update plugins, lists of blocked serials are added into the code.
I agree that the same would be true for any system that doesn't call home. I was mainly trying to unravel whether BRA had put themselves in a bind with their licensing architecture. It doesn't appear so, any more than any other developer facing the same predicament.

Seems reasonable to me for dev's to blacklist serials in updates, if that's the best revocation mechanism available.

you're still in a breach of license tho, and this is exactly the same as just using a cracked version or key-gen generator.
Agreed would be breach of license, but the point I was making is that the only *real* enforcement of the breach is the honor system, mostly same as for keygens or warez, although there are often added technical barriers to them.

I certainly do not envy the independent audio developers having to deal with this. The balance between usability and meaningfully protecting your IP seems like such a razor's edge on top of other aspects of customer service and most importantly creating & marketing distinguished products ... repeatedly. Seems like a real grind!

Rather amazing to me that there is such a flourishing ecosystem.
