You can use a usb stick for waves licensing. I've got mine on a a/b usb hub switch along with a e-licensor for Steinberg stuff - thinking of getting an iLok too just in case I make any hardware changes and forget to deactivate. Three ports just for licensing is a pain - and maybe four if I get an ignition key. I wish I could use one dongle/stick for all plugins that insist on some sort of dongle...
I think that every developer should include at least 2 licenses with every plugin. Thats one thing that pluginalliance does well. I have a desktop I use most of the time and a laptop which has 2 usb ports, so I dont want to use one for Cubase and one for Waves. I just want to be able to use my Waves plugins on the go when I need them. Sometimes it feels like Waves thinks that we're all still in the year 2000 and that their marketing, pricing and licensing is keeping up with the competition.... :dog:

LOL! A false assumption based on one of many threads in KVR. I didn't know it existed until you posted it. I guess you missed the numerous no dongle threads of years past.

The excuse for Waves via USB stick is quite lame. I'm sitting here with many iLok licenses that can be used from 2-3 (UVI) machines. My way of dealing with Waves is buy duplicates when they are on sale. Waves licensing sucks IMO. (don't forget WUP) I have two machines using 2 dongles each.

Didnt realize there is a "foe" function on this forum. Will block all Waves Whiners going forward, I guess just not buying the software hasn't occurred to some folks

I haven’t found any other threads, than mine, where the target is on single-instance licensies.

The irony is, that there are several whining threads towards some developer or protection method, but none seems to be interested in the license limitations.

The dongle or iLok is not a problem - but the developers, who allow only one instance per license are.
At least the potential buyer should be aware of this limitation, and not to watch only the nominal price of the plugin.

Multiply the price of the one-license plugins by 2 or 3.

They are not always upfront with ELUA. You can go to any forum and see the debates of the dongle for two decades. One of the biggest opponents of dongles was the founder of Spectrasonics.

And someone whining about others is somehow better? It seems you could apply the same advice... Like maybe just ignore the post and keep it moving.

But its a steep road to go down if you have trouble with people complaining about your beloved Waves.

There’s probably more complaints about plugins, customer support experiences, GUI hate, and other nonsense than anything else here on KVR.

You draw the line at Waves, while most others understand a forum is a great place to air grievances, regardless of whomever feels like listening to petty complaints much like your own.

Rob Papen still has it's 20% off sale on Rob Papen individual plugins with coupon code HAPPY (does not apply to Explorer 6 upgrade). For someone starting from scratch, they could get Rob Papen's 4 cheapest paid plugins for $132.80 USD (with 20% coupon) and qualify for the $99 upgrade to Explorer 6. Total investment would be $231.80 USD. (If you use anything other than USD on the Rob Papen web store, check the price with USD currency. Some of the other currencies can get a bit out of whack for some reason with higher currency conversion -- 10% (or higher) than the current market rate.)

Here are the plugins: And one of the following $49 plugins ($39.20 after 20% discount) (A few are slightly cheaper by $0.20 at JRR Shop too):
