Try the Andromeda B6
On the serious note, have u-he even been announcing at any point they would release one? Otherwise I think it's not very interesting to the broad public, even though it once was my favorite synth (I bought the Oberheim OB-12 instead, because that one I could afford

Isnt Andromeda is based on Oberheims?
While looking at its specs it doesnt look very unordinary and sounds great, but same great as other analog synths.
But it had something that others didnt had, 16 part multitimbral, which i think is what gave so much of the fame, for that price at the time 16 part multitimbral synth is something insane, even now there is nothing like that if i recall?
I really dont think Andromeda would add something that hasnt been already covered in the software world.

I don't know, but this was the one I purchased instead of the Andromeda A6. If I remember correctly it was less than half the price.

Nope Andromeda is its own thing. The only loose connection to Oberheims is that it has a 2-pole state-variable filter. It also has a 4-pole ladder filter, but many other tricks in its sleeves.

I remember being in awe of the Andromeda when it came out, but I swear I also remember reading multiple reviews at the time basically saying, "all analog, great features, but kind of boring sounding." I wouldn't have known any better at the time anyway (I was just getting into recording/synths), but would mess around with it at Guitar Center. I'm curious, has their reputation greatly improved over the years? Do people love the features AND the raw sound of the oscs/filters?

It's boring sounding when background tuning and temperature compensation options are enabled. They can be disabled. Then it's PHAT and FUN.

With SampleTank able to integrate 4 of it's 16 layers with Syntronik sounds,Elektronisch wrote: Mon Jan 06, 2020 12:10 pm ...But it had something that others didnt had, 16 part multitimbral, which i think is what gave so much of the fame, for that price at the time 16 part multitimbral synth is something insane...
there is a vast range of sounds available. It takes time to even
conceptualize the ability to choose sounds from every part of the orchestra, stage band, and synth store, warts included,
with that many on a single keypress
Kontakt may be similar in end result, though different in presentation,
I'm totally new at it, just getting a scratch list of available sounds going.
The array of libraries available would be over the top,
but the top was outlawed in 1969, as I recall.
Another 16 part multi-timbral beast, is the free zynaddsubfx, and it's cousin,
Yoshimi. The ADDitive, SUBtractive sound engines with an array
of multi-FX makes it a powerhouse for sound design. Very under-utilized.
A vst of zyn is available here:

What does sampletank or Kontakt has to do with Alesis Andromeda being 16 part? any VA is infinite multitimbral these days including ST.
I think you missed my point there.
I will repeat again, Alesis is one of very few analog synths in the existance that has such high multitimbrality offer. So what does ST 4 and kontakt has to do with that

Probably yes and no. Diva and Zebra has diferent architecture. But having exactly same architecture doesnt mean the same sound. But in the end its still about what you can actually do with it. And you can do amazing high quality sound with all the synths.Gamma-UT wrote: Tue Jan 07, 2020 10:30 am Other than the fact that the raw sound of the hardware itself isn't modelled, are there things an A6 can do that aren't possible by Frankensteining it in Diva or ZebraHZ?

I had one of them for a while, nice synth but the OS crashed constantly and I ended up sending it back to the suppliers.Howard wrote: Tue Jan 07, 2020 10:21 am BTW Viscount "OB-12"

It was my request to Urs some years ago, and he said it was a great idea...starflakeprj wrote: Mon Jan 06, 2020 11:22 amOn the serious note, have u-he even been announcing at any point they would release one?
