Wow this is a awesome!
I like pcm/wave/digital/sample-based synths.
There are too many analog synths out there.
Thank you Korg!!!!

Sure but it doesn't do a bunch of things Wavestate can do.

(I’m a such a pita :hihi: )
It DOES contain all original Wavestation PCM, including all cards, from what I understand.
Ouch, that's tasty. I thought it used a selection of the oldies plus some new ones.

Yeah. Not to mention it has gigabytes of samples, with actually very good sounding piano, strings, etc...

Absolutely, its a great little synth no doubt, I have watched a ton of the videos on it today (just watched the PMT one, they have it up for pre-order for 650 GBP) - If I could have 'em all I would, I always try and talk myself down!

I just think (for me at least) they missed the price mark- this should be sub £500 GBP IMHO, probably will be after a while....If your a live player it may still be a good deal, but for me I can get buy with Korgs own Wavestation VST, Rapid and Zone (which seem to have this 'type' of sound and sequencing covered).
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Damn - I'm looking for a little poly soon and afraid to buy anything 'cause something else keeps coming out! If Waldorf every made a knobbier, 37 key Blofeld I'd be all in.

(also - another overly excited keyboard player in a promo video -they look like Emeril Lagasse adding spices every time they tweak a knobl)

Interestingly I just watched the video on 'Unify' by pluginguru and it sounds like the designer had a large hand in the sounds of Wavestate (he says a new Korg synth out today in the video at about 13:30!) and the sounds he created are in his ($59) VST synth (2.5Gigs)!

Not sure how, considering it has gigabytes of samples, and apparently a fairly beefy CPU inside (64 stereo voices, with smooth sound transitions from Kronos...)

See post above- possibly the same or similar sample library (2.5Gigs)
Like I said, it may be worth it if you play live, but not to me sat in my studio next to a fast PC with Rapid etc.

It seems incredibly cool, I must say.

Reading manual it has ability to overwrite or save as new - which seems a smart way of doing this. A bit unclear exactly how this memory work for storing - but this way I won't feel inhibited if it works as I think it does. All intermediates - just save as new and you are done - this is great.

How it establish a free memory location is unclear - they mention thousands would be possible.
"Storage for tens of thousands of user Performances"
If that is with usb something connected.

It also has a compare feature to go back and forth between saved and edit buffer.

It has a lot of things I most probably won't use - like extensive sequencing - but offers a lot at affordable price. Neat little unit, and full size keys - thanks for that. This mini keys stuff is not for me.

I will continue reading manual.....

It's internal memory, you don't have to have anything connected to USB.

Damn.. I was planning that I'd only buy Pulse2 and Deepmind 12D and all my hw synth needs would be full filled.. But Seems like Wavestate will make its way on my shelf.

Post

they should have made this into an updated wavestation plugin instead of a HW synth
HW SYNTHS [KORG T2EX - AKAI AX80 - YAMAHA SY77 - ENSONIQ VFX]
HW MODULES [OBi M1000 - ROLAND MKS-50 - ROLAND JV880 - KURZ 1000PX]
SW [CHARLATAN - OBXD - OXE - ELEKTRO - MICROTERA - M1 - SURGE - RMiV]
DAW [ENERGY XT2/1U RACK WINXP / MAUDIO 1010LT PCI]

Well, having been through this a multiple of times with them in many inceptions of hardware...

I really want to know more about its ability to communicate with the computer.
Especially with what Editor/Librarian they are packaging with it.
And what version driver they're starting it with...
And if OS versions will only be the from W10 & Mac-Cat.

Because these are the past promises that have historically failed me with them.

And yeah,,,,,,,

Even though this is in my wheelhouse of GAS, I'm more on board with this sentiment also.
