tracktion waveform fade in problem

Im having problems with fading in and out certain clips as the small squares do not appear. I'm using waveform 8. does anybody know why? thanks.

Are they midi or audio clips? You only get the fade in and out icons on audio clips.

Check this out for audio clips:
Pretty sure a version of Tracktion had this capability, possibly going back to around T5.
