I originally bought MuLab about 5 years ago. I want to upgrade to the latest system with all the added features. If I do will all my legacy recordings work? And what should I download? I mainly record analogue music.

Assuming you were using MuLab 5, then yes all projects will load fine into MuLab 8. Anyway, best is to doublecheck it yourself using the MuLab 8 demo version.
