Which of the tools randomizes notes of the scale based on the rhythm I feed it like Harvest does? The fact that Harvest doesn't drag and drop midi bothers me.

I've seen some quite old lists, not focused as you're asking for, but overall lists of developers for paid ensembles; the ones I recall are basically out of date now, but this search will turn up some good stuff: https://www.google.com/search?client=sa ... 8&oe=UTF-8.Kalamata Kid wrote: ↑Fri Jan 24, 2020 7:58 am Does any one know if there is a list of free and paid Reaktor MIDI fx, arps, mappers, manglers, generators, chorders, controllers, utilities?
For free ones, the best thing is to go to the User Library and simply search for key words, like MIDI, Sequencers, etc.

I did search on Google with various combo of key words with minimal success.David wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2020 11:42 pmI've seen some quite old lists, not focused as you're asking for, but overall lists of developers for paid ensembles; the ones I recall are basically out of date now, but this search will turn up some good stuff: https://www.google.com/search?client=sa ... 8&oe=UTF-8.Kalamata Kid wrote: ↑Fri Jan 24, 2020 7:58 am Does any one know if there is a list of free and paid Reaktor MIDI fx, arps, mappers, manglers, generators, chorders, controllers, utilities?

I had a bit better luck at the Reaktor forum on the REAKTOR User Library
https://www.native-instruments.com//fr/ ... r-library/
search: midi fx arp sequencer generator mapper chords
Too bad the REAKTOR User Library does not have a midi heading.

OBSCURIUM https://sugar-bytes.de/obscurium
on sale $39.99 https://audioplugin.deals/deal-2/
I make ambient music
I love the GUI
I did not like the music demos. Not ambient.
Love that it can host VST's
Cannot import my own samples
Has Midi out.
What useful midi out can it produce?
If something interesting it may be a good buy at $39.99!

I just bought it today. You can get some nice motion with presets and sliders. Adding reverb/delay can get some ambiance, although it's "reverby" wash kind of ambiance. You can probably get something like that with other sequencers/arps, but this synth offers the two sliders which can easily be modulated to morph between a lot of parameters at once (easy with presets, more work if you set it up the parameters yourself). I read that you can use other VSTs in it, but I haven't looked into how yet.
I bought it to play with, thinking it has potential for something. I made a sequence I might use in a song already. I don't think I would have bought this for producing ambiance, although I may well use it for that at times.

After seeing plugin parameter modulation randomizing working MIDIMagic, I was delighted to see that you can do very much the same thing in Obscurium when it’s hosting a vst. Lots to discover with this unique tool, tho it’s an oddball to be sure, very hard to get any idea about how to work it to some specific end, rather than just follow what it gives you. IMO.

Also this interesting post by David in this thread:
But am concerned about the difficulty with working with midi with it.
I am getting more tempted to buy Obscurium only for the midi features.David wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2019 3:09 am btw, it was the MIDI CC randomizing that's always most interested me in Midi Madness, and seeing that demo'ed again in ver 3 reminded me that I've had Sugar Bytes Obscurium for a long time, which can do something very similar, also by hosting other plugins, plus it also does lots of MIDI note tricks as well, and is a far-out instrument in its own right, so I'm re-exploring that, and really digging it. It's more expensive than MM, but way more powerful (and WAY more complicated to figure out, too…) Plus Sugar Bytes does occasionally offer it for 50% off.

With Obscurium, I've found it not to work so well in hosting VSTs when I use Obscurium in Ableton. For example, when I load Serum in it, I cannot select presets--can still map parameters, but only with default preset. The GUI of Zebra and Diva, if I load one of them, is glitchy, but I've been able to select presets and map parameters.
The standalone version loads Serum and allows me to select presets, and it functions smoothly. But I don't know what I can do with that--maybe save it as a preset after I've gotten something nice sounding, and then open it in Ableton. Or is there some nifty way to record what the stand-alone version produces?
Edit: Saving the preset in stand-alone version and then opening Obscurium in Ableton and using that preset works. Some things still don't work well (Padshop opens the previous version, without the spectral mode, and only two user presets are available). Still pretty cool to use with Serum, Harmor, Zebra 2, Diva--even Resonheart.

My interest is to use Obscurium as a VST in Studio One 4.6. Hope it doe not have the same issues as it does with Live.
I am beginning to loose interest in Obscurium at least for the time being as I already have too many plugins and some I have yet to install and play. But some new insight into the capabilities can change all that.

Looking at some random generators, namely Melody Sauce and Riffer. Tried melody madness, but it didn't quite click with me + it's a bit expensive for something i want for fiddling around.
I like Riffer's interface in general, and much better scale support, but there's no "constraining" or shaping the melodic line which is a shame - specifying a "general envelope" of the melody or having some additional control over randomisation would make it so much more powerful...
I like Melody Sauce's approach on the other hand, but it seems geared towards EDM, and judging from the videos, most of its output is garbage anyway (judging from Ave McRee and MrDifferentTV videos on the page), although i like the idea of some "smartness" behind the scene, i dont think this is what i have in mind.
