Steinberg Padshop 2

Its Steinberg, they will never again create VST2s and that since years...

Why do people keep saying there is no Steinberg VST2 for Padshop 2? There is on Windows. On my machine, it is in C:\Program Files\VSTPlugins\Padshop and is called Padshop.dll.

Is it an old version...?

Running Padshop2 here and the vst2 is installed to the default c:\program files\steinberg\vstplugins

Hmm strange, different installers ? I have installed Padshop2 from scratch but no vst2 version in specified patch. (v20037)

Absolutely sure. It shows up in Reaper and Waveform as a VST 2 , and when I insert it, up pops Padshop 2.

Now this is interesting. The file in the VST2 folder is actually the same file as the VST3 version. The extension has just been changed to dll from vst3. Someone mentioned that this had been done for earlier versions of Steinberg plugins. I guess that is still the case. The renamed file scans and acts like a VST2.

absolutely definitely padshop2 - I get padshop2 when I instantiate it, and the version on the .dll is 2.0.1

There seems to be a difference between Padshop 2 for PC and ditto for Mac. The Mac installer by default deposits a VST3 in the relevant folder. The two options are AU and AAX, the AU apparently being a wrapper for the VST3, since it's only 558 KB. No VST2 on Mac.
