Need help diagnosing failure while recording in Waveform 10

Recording stalls and CPU usage spikes. When I stop recording, the recorded audio disappears. Sometimes the program will crash with the error of "audio engine crash." I have made sure to test this while running no other large software.

Computer: HP Spectre x360 (model 15T-BL100)
OS: Windows 10 Pro.
CPU: i7-8550U
16 GB RAM

So if you go to the settings page, and click on In 1, it should bring up the properties for that input. Can you post a screen grab of that please?

Specifically, have a look at the bit where it says "Filename", and what that's set to

If that's not obviously broken, then if it was me, i'd turn off realtime priority mode, and 64 bit mixing, and also drop the sample rate to something less than 192000Hz (try 44000 or 48000), and up the audio buffer size. See if any of those resolve the issue, if so, gradually increase till you find what works on your system.
