This is a chat forum in the year 2020; our attention spans are shortened and we're used to more concise thoughts spoken in fewer words. A couple of paragraphs tops. Otherwise you risk turning people off...

But I believe the phrase "not for you" is meant in the same way I'd advise people who don't like raw fish to maybe skip the sushi place.

Hey great analogy! Haha. I have to advise people of that all the time. It saves them from going if the reality is that there wouldn't be anything on the menu they'd really like, especially if it's a more traditional place. When I go out for sushi, especially a business dinner which I just had last night actually, I am usually the designated orderer for the table because I have a good track record of picking the right amount of food and stuff the restaurant is particularly good for. The place last night specializes in Toro which is rare tuna belly and not cheap. I know a few people who could have joined us for that dinner but knowing they don't really like raw fish in the first place I would have warned them that the place may not be for them. Plus, I remember one time watching someone try a $12 single piece of toro and not like it because they simply don't like raw fish... and in retrospect we should have tested him out first on something much more basic like regular tuna sushi so it was less wasteful.Gamma-UT wrote: Thu Feb 06, 2020 12:23 pm I believe the phrase "not for you" is meant in the same way I'd advise people who don't like raw fish to maybe skip the sushi place.
Anyway, Sunset Sound Studio Reverb is like toro. Haha.

I can vouch for this. You got me WAY outside of my comfort zone when we went to that place that looked like a hole in the wall but was actually quite amazing. Never even knew there were two (maybe more?) types of raw scallops available, and they were quite different yet really tasty.Squids wrote: Thu Feb 06, 2020 5:54 pmHey great analogy! Haha. Not to mention that if people think your posts are long online, they should hang out with you (and some of the cast of characters with whom you enjoy sushi outings) in person and listen to your stories! I don't think I could estimate the word count of over a decade of that personally - and we don't even live in the same state. I kid, of course, as I believe that many here do find great value and knowledge in the megaposts as well as direct conversation as I do and have for that decade+ I've had the pleasure of knowing you.
That said, I've said nothing about T-RackS Sunset Sound Studio Reverb but I did discuss it in a meeting this morning and things are really coming together nicely. We'll have a great product ready for those who are interested and perhaps even some who don't think they're interested might give it a whirl.
You'll need to take a test based off of a separate 10,000-word document from Squids beforehand, though.

I love some good fish n' chips. And Peter you're one of the ones we have to warn about eating the toro "Only if you really really like raw fish" otherwise it's California Rolls and Chicken Teriyaki for you guys. Haha! This reminds me of that Monty Python skit about the Romans. "I do!" "How much?" "A lot!!!" Right you're in".
Btw regarding the mega posting, I just type fast. Truth be told even I sometimes find my own posts to be too long and sometimes I edit them after to cut to the chase a little. But, they're full of information for those who dare to dig in! If you don't, well, your loss then!

No, not at all, just using that as analogy for what sales and marketing typically mean when you hear that. (Squids has certainly made it clear he didn't mean it that way. Thank you, Squids.)
Actually, companies almost always needs every last sale, regardless of who buys it (so they don't typically dissuade casual users, curious users, etc.). There's investment costs to be recouped. Heck, most companies will sell you a pet rock if you let them. Hold it, ...

You mean Pet Sounds not Pet Rock right? (recorded at Sunset Sound by the way!

The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Oh you're in Maine! I never realized. Man that looks killer. I'm a lobster fiend. Here on Wednesdays there's a place that does an all you can eat lobster buffet. I think they regret making the offer when we go. My record is 10 lobsters. They're small, like not even a pound each. So much for that diet! Well, the diet can take a little break for lobster!
What this has to do with plug-ins I don't know... Haha

I feel proud that we converted some of you guys into sushi eaters. Although the best sushi, for me, is either in Japan (for the real deal) or in Los Angeles (for the creative cuisine). In fact, when we did post-NAMM sessions at Sunset Sound I went ahead and picked up Katsuya for everybody and George, the house engineer, had never had it before. That made the session FLY! One of the secrets. If you're doing something that is laborious and tedious in the studio, feed them well and make them laugh! It's like fuel.Peter - IK Multimedia wrote: Thu Feb 06, 2020 9:22 pmNot any more! Seriously, though, I love this studio. It's such a cool place. Next time I visit LA I'm working with some legendary engineers to make presets for T-RackS and Sunset Sound Studio Reverb. That's gonna be fun... and yes I will feed them well! That's key. (see how I tried to tie in the food thing to keep this semi on topic?)

That's a thing of beauty. I'll have to come back to New England soon, too bad we didn't know each other during my 11 years in your neck of the woods. New Hampshire was my go-to getaway when Boston got to be too much.Hink wrote: Thu Feb 06, 2020 9:31 pm just ftr...you want seafood come see hink...I make the best lobstah rolls...not stuffed with lettuce, lobstah meat, butter and flawlessly toasted buns

Sorry I took this off-topic again. I haven't been to that all-you-can-eat lobster place, Dave, though you know I do enjoy Rustic Inn a ton - and you're the one that introduced me to that spot too. A weekend day of visiting the Naval Air Station Fort Lauderdale Museum followed by a ton of shellfish at Rustic Inn Crabhouse is one of my favorite ways to experience south Florida.
So what was that about some reverb plugin? I swear we were talking about it here...
