Drum names in the midi editor

This is an old trick for getting the drum names displayed in the midi editor. It uses the Tracktion sampler with dummy samples just for the drum names. You place the sampler in front of your drum plug-in and disable it. Yoh create presets in the sampler for your different drum kits.
Is there nowadays a less kludgy way to achieve this? Waveform can display drum names and note names at the same time!

Set the midi channel of the clip to 10 will give you the GM midi names of the drum notes in the midi editor.
Not sure about how to get custom names otherwise.

OK, nice to know. With EZdrummer there are a lot more drums than the GM ones though. Not to mention the latin percussion EZX.
My method works very well. I'ts just tedious to create the sampler presets for each drum kit you own. Having done that work though, its reasonably easy to use. Luckily for me, the presets I created back in Tracktion 2 still work fine.

Is there an easier method to do this now? I am looking for something like this. Thanks in advance!

Just added support for this in W11, it'll be in 11.0.16.
You can download a bunch of drum maps here: https://stash.reaper.fm/browse.php?q=ez ... o=nd&pp=24
Or make your own, it's just a text file, on each line there is:
<midinumber><tab><drumnane>
