Hi guys,
I’m currently developing a MIDI controller. It’s a MIDI mixer that I originally intended for Ableton users (hope that’s not a blasphemy here ;)), but now I’ve been looking into WaveForm a bit and I think it could be quite useful for this too. It will have 9 tracks with each a fader and two knobs.

My question: Will just a normal MIDI mixer suffice or do WaveForm users generally have very specific demands? And is there any way to program the Control Surfaces (for instance, mine has LEDs for each track that assume the color of the track they’re referring to)?

You can see what the controller looks like on midique.com. Any input would be greatly appreciated :)

Thanks in advance!!

Some rotary encoders will also work as a Push-button, that could be useful as it would add 2 optional push buttons per track.

In my case i would not use it with any DAW, but if it has true MIDI connectors and not only USB then it would make a nice controller for my XR18 Mixer

But at worst the PC could proxy the midi events from the controller to the mixer, that would also work.

I picture the faders each adjusting volume for the master bus.
The knob closer to it to adjust the gain and if possible press to mute/disable.
Then the other rotary encoder since close to the led could adjust the Aux[N] Volumes.
Using the led color to indicate the selected Aux Send and after pressing the knob, when the led is flashing, adjust the volume for that Aux Bus.

Would make it useful for those new digital mixers that does not have buttons while live recording and since i'm usually not using a DAW when recording live, but only recording the RAW Audio Tracks and Master Out. Most buttons are useless, i only need to think about setting the gain after a quick gear change, adjust each tracks quickly and set the sends for the monitors. Everything else will only get in the way of what needs to be done.

After, if it's also useful while mixing, it will only add to it.
But i got used to Mouse/Keyboard for the DAW itself.

Will have to see how the price compares with lets say a X-Touch Extender/Controller
