Hi,
I am trying to use Synthmasters filters and effects on an external Audio signal, but can't seem to get it working.
I am using the "Synthmaster2FX" plugin in Live.
I am sending audio from a track to the Synthmaster2FX track - Track In
I have set the oscillators in layer 1 to "audioin"
nothing is happening.
Anyone able to help?
thanks

Add the "SynthMaster2FX" plugin as an effect to your audio track.
Init your preset and then set the oscillator type to "AudioIn" in the "Synthmaster2FX" Osc section.
Then add a midi input for "Synthmaster2FX" (by adding a midi track and setting Live's "MIDI to" dropdown in the midi track to send the midi to the audio source track (and by default, the effect on that audio track).
Then play some midi notes while the audio source is running. "Synthmaster2FX" as an effect will only allow audio to pass thru when midi notes are triggered, like a vocoder effect. Otherwise, all you will hear is silence.
You should then be able to adjust the layer and global FX. As well as adjust other layer settings.

Like a few other areas with Synthmaster, the manual is really inadequate. For instance, I'd love to see written out aspects of the dual filters, things like what, exactly, the 2 Modes and Topology parameters do. I can see and hear, but I want to know in words what they do so I am not acting blindly. I'd like more info about everything to do with the Vocoder effect, what the spacing does in the Ensemble effect, and what the delay and mod spacings do, why there are two of them too.

I agree, but it is probably too late in the game for SM2. Been that way since day 1.rockmachine wrote: Mon Apr 06, 2020 10:02 pm Like a few other areas with Synthmaster, the manual is really inadequate.
Maybe the effort would be better spent documenting those features, and others, in the manual for SM3 when it is released?

Good enough zzz00m. I sure hope so. It's not that I can't hear, and sometimes, actually see in various windows, some of this stuff, but that's not the same as "understanding " some of these things on the analytical level I always want to get these things in that way so that when I am doing adjustments, I know what the hell I am doing, or at least, aiming for. The manuals for most of my other high end synths are, for the most part, really well written with everything explained, and it's not like there would be much needed to explain these things fully, maybe, at most, another 10-15 pages in the PDF. Here's hoping!
The thing is, out of all my incredible VST synths, Synthmaster is always at the top of my go to list in using it for almost any application or type of sound I want-pads, basses, arpeggiators, especially having the fantastic chord, and, as played choices, a raity amongst most synths with arps, synch driven envelopes and/or LFOs, being able to arrange effects in any order, now wavesquencing with the wavetables, the additive osc. is incredible in terms pf programmability, like a Synclavier really. I know, I should be getting a job writing promo literature for them. lol
