In which order to place a vst arpeggiator and a vst sound module and how to make it work ?

Hi all,
Definitely I understand nothing about the setup of an arpeggiator in a daw.
I tried all kinds of arpeggiators (blue arp / catanya / kirnu cream / sequencair etc ...) as well on MuLab as on Studio One or Mixcraft but I can't do it.
There are all kinds of tutorials to explain the operation of all these arps but nothing on the "connection".
An arpeggiator and any sound vst. A priori, what could be simpler?
But here, in what order? which one controls the other?
Is it the arpeggiator which controls the sound module by sending it notes like a keyboard or the sound module which sends sounds to the arpeggiator which then arranges them in the desired order?
As explained on the attached diagram, I tried to connect the arpeggiator first and then the sound module.
So when I start the arpeggiator, the notes "played" through the arpeggiator knobs are reproduced with the sound of the sound module.
But MuLab does not record them. It plays, I hear it but nothing is recorded.
However, if you play any vst, MuLab records sound and notes while there is only sound output and no events in the modular.
There is sound AND events at the exit of my arpeggiator / vst association in the modular but MuLab does not record.
I tried in all directions but nothing helped.
Each arpeggiator has its operating instructions but none clearly states how to associate it with a vst and even less with a daw (and even less with Mulab or Mixcraft).
If anyone knows how to do it, it would help me.
thank you in advance
Serpax

Hi!
personally, i would put the midivst together in one rack before the vst-instrument. With your example shown above, you could add an audiotrack in the composer view and put the output from instrument-rack to the input of the recorder from the recoder-rack. then you just have to press the record flack of the audiotrack and record what ever you want
i hope, it helps you.
cheers

Thank you Urvieh for your kindness and help.
After some trial and error, I managed to get the whole thing to work.
If I followed your procedure correctly, all is fine and I thank you very much.
But...because there is always a but, I have now an audio track but no midi events anywhere.
When we put a vst instrument in MuLab, modular indicates an audio out and no events out.
However, we can hear the sound and see the midi events in "compose".
So I don't understand why I can't see midi events (the notes played by the seq with the sound vst module) since basically, it's not audio.
Both seq and vst are vst and no external audio like a guitar, a voice etc...
I understand that we can't see midi events if I play guitar for example but when i record a vst (any of them), we can see the midi track.
The notes played on the seq are some midi events, no ?

You need MIDI In flowing into something that's flowing into the event processor module (arpeggiator, whatever) and that needs to trigger the audio generator module (VSTi, whatever).
In a rack, that would mean the arp module first, the sound module second, with an event track targeting the rack.
Oh, and remember you can stick Event Monitor modules in to see whether your arp is receiving and generating events as you'd expect.

Thank you very much bibz1st,
This is exactly what i was looking for ! It works perfectly and even without the recorder (so without audio channel), we have events and sound from the sound module directed by the arp.
I had never managed to make 2 vst work together on the same track. Mulab didn't want to, I don't know why.
Btw, I did not even know the "event recorder".
when i read your post, i thought it was a 3rd party vst.
But since I couldn't find a vst with this name, I went to delve into MuLab and I found it. Awesome !
Thank you for me as well as for all those who struggle with the initial functioning of an arpeggiator.

It sounds very interesting but I'm afraid I haven't understood everything.
Can you develop a little please?
What do you mean by "you can stick Event Monitor modules"?

Glad you got it working, a bit of experimentation and watching some videos should set you on the right path. There's always someone on this forum who can point you in the right direction.

Look in the modules in MuLab and you'll find one. They display events. It's very useful to ensure you've put things in the right place to see the events.
