Actually, the spring recerb in GR is convolution, too.Echoes in the Attic wrote: Wed Feb 12, 2020 5:28 pm For anyone with NI Komplete, don't overlook the spring unit in Guitar Rig. I tend to like that one even more than IRs of springs in a convolution. Of course there's also the spring IRs in Reflektor isnide Guitar Rig as well as the vintage reverb unit witha few springs that sound quite nice as well (though these don't have adjustable lengths).
Best "Native" Spring reverb plugin or emulation?

I think the plate/spring reverbs in the Vintage Reverb unit are. But I don't think that's true of the dedicated Spring Reverb effect. The brownish tweed looking one I mean.medienhexer wrote: Wed Feb 12, 2020 5:51 pmActually, the spring recerb in GR is convolution, too.Echoes in the Attic wrote: Wed Feb 12, 2020 5:28 pm For anyone with NI Komplete, don't overlook the spring unit in Guitar Rig. AudioThing Springs presently meets all my needs, but must say the new Arturia Grampian 636 model is mighty tempting for a Lee Scratch Perry fan such as myself.

Now all that appears to be missing for Scratch ITB is a Fisher SpaceXpander valve spring reverb emulation, although did find some IRs of the, "King Tubby Spring Reverb" ...

The hardware spring reverbs vary in sound considerably.
The "really springy" sounding units were generally the cheaper ones.
This is what you hear in a lot of classic dub productions.
Spring reverbs like the DOD were very popular and had an exaggerated spring sound.
Fender was one of the first guitar amps to incorporate spring reverb which became classic for guitar amps.
Here is an example of the Eventide recreating that sound:

Nexcellence is now on sale for $20 by the way, for anyone who doesn't mind ilok. I won't use it personally and am thrilled with Spirit Reverb for spring sounds. Which, by the way has a full featured demo which has no restrictions over the full version other than a little graphic area that tells you you haven't authorized it. No time limit. So you can use it in productions and save etc. as you decide if you want to keep it. Pretty cool of them.

I had one i put in the back of one of my modulars, limited range of use for me but occasionally it was fun. Eventually removed it and hauled my Korg digital around.
+1 each for the two PSP spring reverbs.
