Save project to usb stick while recording?

I use WF on a laptop for recording, and a desktop for editing.
It takes a long time to then write the files onto a usb stick 'post' recording.

I'm wondering if I can save the project directly from the laptop WF onto a suitable sized usb stick and then just plug it into the desktop which has the same WF version (I have 10 & 11 on both computers).

In our band room I usually set laptop WF to record non-stop for a whole set of songs and would rather not save to the laptop's SSD.

I would think if you had a USB3 stick AND a USB3 slot on the laptop it could be OK; but I don't believe USB2 devices will be capable of capturing fast enough... ?

And if it WERE USB3, then the copy time from SSD to flash wouldn't be so bad.

Would it not be faster to create an archive of the recording on laptop, then transfer that to desktop? Or record to external SSD.

A quality external SSD would be a better choice; they are generally more reliable than flash drives.

Thanks for the responses.
I do have an external SSD that I use to store WIN backups.
I'll give that a try.
