Jungle was the progenitor's of DnB of course... Basically urban punks with samplers! :tu:

DnB (the early years) was at it's peak when it had a lot more of the jungle influence. Early Ed + Nico, Dom + Roland, etc.

Great tune when it kicks in after 4 mins.

But this is the type of stuff I miss in general - heavy once it kicks in!

It's very hard to find decent tunes like this (assuming you like this stuff of course) with that 'older' sound.

This is of course all very subjective but my god.. I can't listen to that. I. just. can't.

:D I get it mate... That type of stuff is not for everyone (I do like other stuff of course too).

I'd have the same visceral reaction though if I was in the same room and someone wanted to play the Beatles or Elton John (or any of that pop stuff!).

But it's all good at the end of the day, you like what you like! :tu:

I quite like this, except for the vocals, which sound silly. I agree it's hard to find stuff this hard these days. Can I suggest THESE GUYS
or maybe this REMO PARK album. Yes, they both use guitars but they have the same kind of feel overall.

Thanks for sharing this. Makes me feel better about my lyric-writing :ud: But snark aside, the sound reminds me a lot of my X-Station VA synth; the inbuilt overdrive and reverb both have a graininess to them and when pushed you basically get this sound.

Would love some examples.

A few examples from the last few years. Tried to make it as varied as possible.

Yeah mate... They are not lyrical geniuses. ;)

But I like the overall 'heavy' production.

I know what you mean... It's virtually impossible to find agrotech with out that weird pitch shifted eeeeeelin monster vox. :( But I do like the driving beats mixed with some dissonant synth stuff.

Cheers for the recommendations btw, Alien Healer is an insta' buy! DW Sex Zombies is good too. Reminds me a bit (vocally) of early Type O Negative.

Incidentally, this is a class tune, again a pity about the eeevil vox. But the synth and speed of the track is class.

The original Junglists were being faced with not being able to play anywhere because venues didn’t want the violence/gang culture that came with the music , so it was decided to change the name to drum and bass and move the style away from the Reggae influence to make it appear to be something else.
