so uncooked music...
generally means not overproduced, sounds a bit rough (not necessarily heavy as some people seem to think...).

The problem with Aggrotech is that it has devolved into girlie trance music with heavy metal vocals over the top. It's almost like a parody of what it once was.Robmobius wrote: Sat Mar 07, 2020 12:41 pmI know what you mean... It's virtually impossible to find agrotech with out that weird pitch shifted eeeeeelin monster vox.But I do like the driving beats mixed with some dissonant synth stuff.
It's Wagner from Dance or Die. I love his vocals.Cheers for the recommendations btw, Alien Healer is an insta' buy! DW Sex Zombies is good too. Reminds me a bit (vocally) of early Type O Negative.
To me that is a description of bad music. Worse than "cheesy" in my book.vurt wrote: Sat Mar 07, 2020 8:50 pmgenerally means not overproduced, sounds a bit rough (not necessarily heavy as some people seem to think...).

I like super medium-rare music.
Coincidentally, the last thing I commented on on Soundcloud was a 'Raw Mix'-

Another thing about the KLF - they always made things a spectacle, and were proper pop stars in that respect.
Whenever I see videos of this EDF stuff it always seems to be of some nondescript lad on a stage playing records to monged out young people in a field somewhere. Boring.

Yeah mate... It's somewhat of dead genre now, that has crossed the line into pure commercialism. Most of it these days is excruciatingly 'happy' with an 'edgy' album cover to pretend we've still got it.BONES wrote: Sun Mar 08, 2020 1:19 am The problem with Aggrotech is that it has devolved into girlie trance music with heavy metal vocals over the top. KLF was my favourite group back then, but that's close to 30 years ago now. Most of their music is easily done these days.
What I have never really heard no one else
do, is having those 3/4/5 vocalists on the same track, even if it was just some short sampled phrases. I kind of missed that.

Indeed. I totally get you. I mean, I have no problem with screaming vocals and tons of distortion (I'm a huge Meshuggah fan and like that whole genre!). There's just something about the example that doesn't give me any vibes at all. There's nothing I can get invested in. No rhythm, no production values, no melody, no harmony that isn't downright corny in my opinion.Robmobius wrote: Thu Mar 05, 2020 2:28 ambmanic wrote: Thu Mar 05, 2020 1:36 am This is of course all very subjective but my god.. I can't listen to that. I. just. can't.I get it mate... That type of stuff is not for everyone (I do like other stuff of course too).
I'd have the same visceral reaction though if I was in the same room and someone wanted to play the Beatles or Elton John (or any of that pop stuff!).
But it's all good at the end of the day, you like what you like!![]()
But as we both noted, it's all extremely subjective.

Well, the spectacle thing with KLF was to prove their point. I've always had a very hard time taking KLF seriously as it all started as a "joke".donkey tugger wrote: Sun Mar 08, 2020 9:41 am Another thing about the KLF - they always made things a spectacle, and were proper pop stars in that respect.

EDIT: strangely it isn't mentioned in the wiki but as far as I recall, that "manual" made the rounds way before 1988 on various BBS "forums" and passed on various C64 disks in the day.
