Pretty sure that’s the same issue waddejager was posting about all the time a month or two ago. Your two computers must have something in common because I tested identical hardware synths with him and got different results (no stuck notes). So Try posting it in the studio one forums, he’ll see it or someone else who had it will see it there. Maybe you guys can figure out why it’s happening, it’s been rare enough that nobody could yetDigivolt wrote: Tue Mar 10, 2020 9:42 pm So now I'm getting stuck notes trying to play my xoxbox and Neutron despite them working fine yesterday, I can play notes on my T6 and the synths play fine, if I click a note within the piano roll the midi gets stuck and I have to use reconnect to get it to stop

I have a funny feeling that they will add the Audio Batch Converter into the Professional version of Studio One 5.0 by default.

Batch converters very useful, but it’s a paid add in, what makes you think they will add it free? May piss off all the people who bought it (I have bought a few add ins, would be a bit miffed if they then included it with the update....)
Looking forward to 5 either way...

Maybe it's an interface issue (although I've tried with midi out of my interface and midi through usb for the neutron, same result) ? I'm going to be getting a 4pre at the end of the month so maybe that could be the solution to my issues, other than that I have no clue as I've tried running just pure midi with my midi keyboard turned off and the notes still get stuck. It's driving me crazy because it was working literally the day before (although I had the other stupid midi bug where a track seems to forget about the midi keyboard and doesn't register presses even though it sees them)oneway wrote: Wed Mar 11, 2020 12:57 am Pretty sure that’s the same issue waddejager was posting about all the time a month or two ago. I'll post on the S1 forums though maybe they can be better help but usually they ask for remote access which is a no no for me
If you watch the video I'm doing neither, all I'm doing is playing notes on the midi keyboard stopping and then clicking a note within the piano roll on the same instrument track and then it all goes to shit and the midi gets stuck off the piano rollTHE INTRANCER wrote: Wed Mar 11, 2020 12:44 am Try not holding down the keys when switching to another instrument.

Yep , we must be one of the few people to have experienced this ( this only happened in studio one )Digivolt wrote: Tue Mar 10, 2020 9:42 pm So now I'm getting stuck notes trying to play my xoxbox and Neutron despite them working fine yesterday, I can play notes on my T6 and the synths play fine, if I click a note within the piano roll the midi gets stuck and I have to use reconnect to get it to stop
In the past , the issue would go away after a pcreboot ...
Last time I got it it went away after a win 10 upgrade ..in the mean time studio one wasn't usable for over a week .
This is the only serious issue I have with studio one , my pc is clean as a whistle , no games , no cracked soft , no porn etc...
To be abssolutly sure we're dealing with the same issue , check the following
-Does the bug also happen when clicking on the pc keybaord ( using the pc piano keys ) ...it should be
-By default , when clicking on a piano roll note assigned to a vst , the standard gate time ( is roughly 1/8 note at 120 bpm , during the bug this should be a lot smaller ...1/32
-When the bug occurs ( no midi out note is send ) , the sudio one midi monitor actually shows midi out is send ( despite the contrary ) , whcih means the midi monitor is faulty
You should upload your video to the forum and create a bug report so thay can tackle the problem ( I already Have )
here's the topic

Same with mine, clean PC. I'm going to give Cubase trial a go to see if the midi issues persist with that then at least I can nail it down to just being a S1 issue but it's getting really annoying to the point I can't trust the DAW if things just randomly stop working for no reasongentleclockdivider wrote: Wed Mar 11, 2020 3:47 pmYep , we must be one of the few people to have experienced this ( this only happened in studio one )Digivolt wrote: Tue Mar 10, 2020 9:42 pm So now I'm getting stuck notes trying to play my xoxbox and Neutron despite them working fine yesterday, I can play notes on my T6 and the synths play fine, if I click a note within the piano roll the midi gets stuck and I have to use reconnect to get it to stop

My thoughts exactly , it will work fine in cubase , the problem only exists in studio one
No isses here in renoise , reaper
I am sure it's a studio one gui polling issue in combination with win 10 etc.. , if you just load songs it will play back fine , but as soon you're clicking notes the issue starts ( but only with external hardware synths )
edit : I uploaded your video to the presonus forum , it wouldn't hurt to create a support ticket >
What audio/midi interface are you using ?

Roland Rubix22
I have an MBox2 mini that I'll try with later to see if it's a Roland driver issue as I saw that your interface is also Roland so it might be Roland drivers ?
Failing that I have no clue, 3 days ago all was working fine, 2 days ago I had the bug where I would load up a song and the track wouldn't recognise inputs on my T6 so I had to make new tracks for it to work (another thing randomly breaking for no reason) and then yesterday it all goes to shit with hanging midi

Yep , the issue occured out of nowhere .
It was driving me nuts because I never knew if I would be able to finish a project , and waiting a few days/weeks for a next win update is no go .
In the end I just de-installed stu-1 becasue the issue was stressing me out ... thinking about selling it

I wouldn't mind so much but I've just recently made the push to go into hardware more so I really need the midi to work, if I was using everything ITB it would be fine as there seems to be no issue with midi inside S1 it's only when sending out, I'm going to try to some other things to troubleshoot this issue as I can't really make any of the music I want to make with my hardware until it's fixed.
It's not a Roland issue though, the Mbox2 provides the same results

@Digivolt
Windows 10 is more security conscious, when it comes to software and in what access permissions you have set. When Windows downloads updates, you may find that some permissions are reset, so if the drivers worked before then you should go the properties of the driver file and set it to allow access to all read and write permissions for that hardware. If you are using software which acts as a software hub for the hardware you are using, then go to the properties (programs .exe) and set it to allow all access to the read and write aspects that the utility software uses. (The tick boxes should be set to allow).
Studio One has an option to scan for plugins, services and hardware which is connected upon start up of the application, if you have disabled this, then I'd suggest that you allow this to run through and connect properly during that stage. You can also go to the roaming folder of Studio One and delete the configuration file that Studio One uses, and do a rescan of everything again a fresh.
If you are using a cheap plastic USB to midi cable with your hardware, then these can cause problems as well. From my previous experience with Windows 7, the requirement to unblock ports within the registry was required to allow MIDI to be sent properly to Propellerheads Reason for example, which I was using at this time. If they didn't work after clearing the registry, then the conclusion was that the USB to Midi device was dead and of no further use. Additionally, you should always connect your USB to MIDI cables directly to the main USB port of your computer, not through an additional USB HUB.

Really ? Screwing with the registry ? I appreciate you're only trying to help but that's not really helpful and it's clear you're not actually reading what people are discussing about the issue
It's a Studio One issue, I just loaded up an older project, guess what ? It plays the previously record midi just fine but as soon as I try to touch the piano roll or add new notes, it gets stuck, so it's nothing to do with permissions, registry or cables as if it was any of those the old project would provide identical results but it isn't

Well, you're only screwing with the registry if you don't know what you're doing, or not careful enough. Personally, I've never had any issues with doing anything bad to Windows in almost 20 years in that area to cause problems. More often I fix things by going there... but I understand that it's not for everyone.
Software wise, it's generally it's not recommended, to bring over songs created in builds earlier than major point versions, and if you have updated software or that of the operating system and problems crop up unexpectedly. Then you'll have to look to find a solution ( or not.. ) depending on your time, patience and experience. My own set up consists of three of which two hardware keyboard hardware midi synthesizers are connected to my computer. One vie it's provided USB midi cable with no in between midi light connection and the other through standard 5 pin midi leads directly to my Focusrite Pro 14 Firewire Interface running Windows 7 64 Bit & Windows 10 version 1903, and Studio One 4.5.6 Pro. I'll run some tests tomorrow to see if I experience any hanging of notes you do with them.
As of tonight, I've added a new section for problem solving issues with Studio One near the bottom of page 1.

Well, it's only like 40 bucks, but still expensive even at that, then when there's already many alternatives and free one's at that which go way beyond...what this can do in practical terms. It just seems pretty redundant for many to bother buying...and that if there was anything that would pry interest from those of other DAW's to switch then this might be it...just for convenience.SLiC wrote: Wed Mar 11, 2020 7:23 am Batch converters very useful, but it’s a paid add in, what makes you think they will add it free?
