Fl Studio user-interface is the worst of any program

It doesn't fit you. Okay. The interface and workflow fits very well for many others including me. I personally can't work with Ableton or Reaper. Doesn't mean it's trash (though the Reaper Win95 interface qualifies for it).

You can run FLS as a vst in other DAWS? At least I can..

Which one of them?

Building a pattern per part? Or exploding those all tracks in the pattern to separate tracks/patterns? Or the "classic" DAW workflow where you drag a synth or sample to the left side of the player view and it hooks to track, pattern and mixer track? Some other?

Is it Edward...???
I did wonder. It lacks the usual Edward hallmarks. I think it's another repeat offender though. We'll see if they turn out to be a big, big fan of Waves.

I remember FL studio being predominantly grey, not flashy colours and I loved the workflow, being able to record individual loops and put them together in a song editor, making it easy to play with the arrangements until satisfied. The only reason I don't have it is because I can't afford it but I wish all DAWs would have a similar arrangement.

had it for 15yrs+ and the reason i bought it back then it was the cheapest lol i have to agree it is disorganized to say the least (and i am being nice lol) and the overall look has been horrid from day one imo BUT i still use it for creating quick parts... really love the step sequencer and piano roll. looking at it from today's 'standard' it is rather dismal imo but you have to look at the source... it started off as a basic drum sequencer if i am not mistaken and as was related to as a 'kid's tree house' which is spot on... things were just added willy nilly with no forethought hence the disorganization of the software.

i won't knock others for using it... as was said also... that is subjective. to each his own but i would NEVER advise anyone to even try it these days... there are FAR better software packages to use. i will never get rid of it... it has free lifetime updates with free additions from time to time and has improved a little bit in the time i have had it... but i find it quick and to the point for creating small parts with midi.

good luck trying to get your money back if you mean to do so... the transfer fee is ridiculous from what i have heard. my advice? if you spent the money... keep it and use it the best you can and write your losses off as an expensive experience lesson. cheers

That's pretty convoluted, no? Why would I want to run another DAW on top of the one I already use? But perhaps it's a solution for people who really care about that.

I meant the complete lack of dependance / connection between patterns, playlist and mixer. I know IL tried to address it in v20 so maybe it's better now? Still, the overload of dropdown menus, settings, weird modifiers (not obvious) you need to use when clicking things is a big no-no for me :)

But again, that's a personal (non-)preference.

I impulse-buy gear to compensate for my bad music-production ability, but I can still say, it's the least usable of my four DAW's, and the most expensive. They designed the U.I. for looping drum beats, and actual notes were an afterthought that never made it to first-class. It's my fault for buying when the U.I. was plainly garbage from the start.

It's not my fault that VST and Rewire don't work. It's fraud; I paid for those features, and they were advertised.
FL Studio is famous for its piano roll, so don't let your partially personal experience make a nonsense statement.

Currently it's $199 for the standard version of FL Studio plus it comes with:
FREE LIFETIME UPDATES

Did you use it for a week and then give up frustrated because it didn't respond to your mouse commands in exactly the same fashion as one of the other DAWS?
They are all a pain in the ass in one way or another.

FL Studio is pretty good daw but not gonna lie, window clutter is pretty cumbersome.

Post

Yes, FL Studio has become cluttered. I found myself fighting with the million windows and unnecessary stuff on screen. That's one of the reasons I switched to Ableton Live 10. Simple and streamlined.

That said, I don't think it's the worst. This is all so subjective anyway. So, while I find Live 10's GUI awesome, others may find it's fugly and cumbersome.

-No. It's definitely better than an old school tracker, like impulse tracker.
