EnGee wrote: Tue Mar 24, 2020 8:28 pm So with D16, after buying their plugin, can you install it offline then activate it offline?

It's difficult for me to decide, but if we follow the criteria, can we install it and activate it offline if we have the serial/keyfile?
Yes, but there's a 72 hour time limit after downloading (see above).
It means it needs an online activation.
And that does not match with the conditions of this list.
Unfortunately yes! I need a "future proof" list, so if the Company/developer is no more in the business, we still can install and activate this instrument/synth offline.

I'll update the list now.

I am using a keyfile from 2015 that still works fine with phoscyon from D16 and i have used it since i bought it so that they use C/P is new to me.
And yes i do use the latest version.

I had LuSH 101 but I sold it. I really don't remember how the activation worked! I only remember it was easy and when selling the license was super easy!

I think it's better to ask their support to be sure. I'll update the list if there is no time limit for the serial/keyfile activation.

Update:
No need to send them email. Everything is written here:
https://helpdesk.d16.pl/knowledge_base/article/161

It is as thecontrolcentre said, the serial must be used within 72 hours, so there is no meaning for backing up the serial because it is useless after 72 hours of the issue's time.

Their older plugins are keyfile activation without a time limit. The newer ones can be activated online or by a keyfile which expires after 72 hours. I posted a link to the info earlier in the thread.

Ok. So the older products are ok then like Phoscyon but newer ones need redownloading if they are not activated within 72hours.

Weird and a shame that they went away from the friendly Key option that i like.

Post

Maybe I should write them in the list but only mentioning the older products (instruments and synths) that not in the FAQ article.

The developer of Fathom has stated that certain upcoming versions will have a one-time-per-machine challenge-response type of mechanism. That being said, he has also publicly stated that there will be a "failsafe" mechanism so that if the company can no longer operate, a version will be released that no longer has online activation. References for that are... somewhere in that very long Fathom thread...

But they are c/r now nevertheless
A reason I don't buy any more of their products

Every company says that and not a single one kept their promise. And I had three of such cases already.

Post

Just two notes:
1. Regarding Fathom, I will remove it from the list when it become a challange-response type whatever the promises are.
2. d16 and Xils-labs and some other developers have some products that "future-proof", so I only mentioning those products that the criteria apply on :)

What do you think all?
