Word of advice on masterdesk: no true peak limiting, no ISP detection.LoveEnigma18 wrote: Mon Mar 30, 2020 12:08 pmThanks for the suggestion and offer.Ploki wrote: Mon Mar 30, 2020 11:23 amFwiw Iron is not as clean as a mastering comp should be in my opinion. Is there any PA plugin that is a must-have from the current MEGA Q1 2020 sale? I have the survey voucher unused.
Suggestion: SPL Iron or bx_masterdesk?
so out of the two masterdesk i guess.
I can sell you my iron license for 30€, i wont be using it![]()
I might demo them, but SPL Iron looks a bit complicated to operate for me. Masterdesk looks relatively simple. I am also not sure if I will getting either at this point. Trying to resist, but at worst will get one plugin during this sale, simple because of the $25 survey voucher that I have lying.
UA SpecOps also interests me, but unfortunately voucher can't be applied on that, so need to increase the cart value. Damn.
If you're serious about mastering/finalizing your own tracks, look elsewhere (Same thing goes for their XL limiter; PA doesn't have a coder who can tackle ISP it seems).
This is an older article, but still very pragmatic: https://www.saintpid.se/en/isp-true-peak-limiters-test/

Agree, might just do that if I there is nothing convincing.quietzone wrote: Mon Mar 30, 2020 1:49 pmLatest survey voucher is valid until Dec 31 2020, if it's that one, save it for the next sale!LoveEnigma18 wrote: Mon Mar 30, 2020 12:08 pmThanks for the suggestion and offer.Ploki wrote: Mon Mar 30, 2020 11:23 amFwiw Iron is not as clean as a mastering comp should be in my opinion. Thanks for pointing it out, I understand your points. But I thought Masterdesk is a master-buss type of "compressor"? Think I understood it wrong. I do have FabFilter Pro-L 2 for all the limiting needs. Nevertheless, I would consider skipping it if it's not worth it. Is there any Waves equivalent I can compare Masterdesk with? Just to understand better. I might already a suitable alternative.escalona wrote: Mon Mar 30, 2020 2:08 pmWord of advice on masterdesk: no true peak limiting, no ISP detection.LoveEnigma18 wrote: Mon Mar 30, 2020 12:08 pmThanks for the suggestion and offer.Ploki wrote: Mon Mar 30, 2020 11:23 amFwiw Iron is not as clean as a mastering comp should be in my opinion. Abbey Road TG Mastering Chain is the only Waves equivalent. FWIW, I own both and prefer the Waves. I prefer Ozone over both of them.LoveEnigma18 wrote: Mon Mar 30, 2020 3:06 pm Thanks for pointing it out, I understand your points. But I thought Masterdesk is a master-buss type of "compressor"? MasterDesk is an all-in-one solution. It includes EQ (tilt), Master Compression and Limiting and some other tools.LoveEnigma18 wrote: Mon Mar 30, 2020 3:06 pm

You have 30 day demo time with PA right now. Just test it against your stuff. Pro-L2 is more capable in regards of transparency + pure limiter features. If you have a master compressor like Kotelnikov you can already have better results with them working together.
Masterdesk though is a quick-and-dirty master solution without needing to tweak too much, and reaching quick demo-like results.
I have also bought it and never used it much since I always go to Pro-L2 + MagicDeathEye, Kotelnikov, VSC-3, Maag-K, SHMC A, TrackComp2 now. Of course not all at once, but they offer a good selection of different master compression.

I vowed to be more disciplined with my plugin purchases and haven't bought a plugin in 3 1/2 months, but this is tempting

Thank you for the advice. It does look interesting based on what you say, but I will definitely demo it before taking the decision.dermage wrote: Mon Mar 30, 2020 5:05 pmMasterDesk is an all-in-one solution.
