3.1 was obviously not the update for "more effortless workflows, for both the studio and the stage, but also some new approaches to old problems" we've been waiting for. Do you think 3.2 might be it?

I don’t know, but I hope it’s out soon as I suddenly find my self with more free time than normal!
I suspect (love it or hate it) that networking will be in the mix as the headline with a bunch of workflow improvements around midi editing.

Ouch. I think the collaboration feature will be a selling point for Bitwig 4 like the Grid was for 3 (but I'm hoping for 7 or something...)SLiC wrote: Mon Mar 30, 2020 9:07 am I suspect (love it or hate it) that networking will be in the mix as the headline with a bunch of workflow improvements around midi editing.

I can think of some Loomer Architect like MIDI-Grid device https://www.loomer.co.uk/architect.htm , I miss a device which can manipulate its own MIDI clips collection as Architect can do it

I can imagine a device which has direct access to the launcher clips/blocks and can manipulate/play them directly

I think it is almost something they need to 'get out of the way' as it was part of the original launch 'promise' along with the modular system. It may be more useful than we all think, no one realy know what it is...I remember thinking when they did the pop up browser 'why have they done this, no one was asking for it' and now it is one of my most appreciated features... its not top of my list either, but I have been surprised by the DEVS before, so I will wait and see.kpv wrote: Mon Mar 30, 2020 9:37 amOuch. A tracker view programmed by Taktik, so Bitwig also will be the best tracker. Then lot of small, but fine workflow improvements, inplace pianoroll, better layered editing, new layer on top instead behind. Harmonic/scale settings within pianoroll. Lot of new shortcuts. Completed eq. Free drawable LFO. Range for dynamics fx. Improved gate with hold. Better render dialogue with placeholder variables, auto selection, muting while live rendering etc. Save file formats now use compressed xml instead binary chunk data. All analysers have a setting for slope factor, from 0, +3db, +4db, +4.5db to +4.8db. Moving loop while playing incl. playhead correction. Expanding/shrinking loop incl. playhead correction. All with shortcuts. Shortcut for playing note(s) under current position (white playback is stopped). Move playhead by shortcuts. Multitake recording. Midi time offset per track, non destructive. Shuffle setting per track, using the global amount as maximum. Mdi/Audio reset on stop button double click.

Its the only feature on the Bitwig Website specifically mentioned and it was there from V1 as an upcoming feature- on the videos they also say it is built in (I suspect they use it for development) so I cant see why not...from the web site (Q and A section):JHernandez wrote: Mon Mar 30, 2020 4:03 pmWhy do you suspect this?SLiC wrote: Mon Mar 30, 2020 9:07 am I don’t know, but I hope it’s out soon as I suddenly find my self with more free time than normal!

WHEN WILL THE COLLABORATION FEATURES become AVAILABLE?
Collaboration features are planned for future versions of Bitwig Studio. Network support is already built into the core of the software and the Bitwig Studio project file format is designed bearing collaboration features in mind. So collaboration is part of the DNA of Bitwig Studio. We are dedicated to further develop our own collaboration technology.
Doesn't necessarily mean it will be the next version...but it is going to be this year I think....

I know about that but you said "I suspect (love it or hate it) that networking will be in the mix as the headline with a bunch of workflow improvements around midi editing." so naturally I thought there was more to why you thought that would be the case in this particular version/update.

Hopefully we will find out if my suspicion is current very soon!

The pace of updates has slowed down some... it is nearing 9 months since 3.0 was released. Working on the underlying graphics stuff is time consuming.
I have no idea what will come with 3.2. I would be fine if it were nothing but performance and workflow improvements. Whatever they do is fine with me.

I have hope for a better solution to controller Scripts... I would love a visual way to create controller Scripts with layers and shift functions all from the UI... I think that's one of the biggest shortfall for a lot of people that have controllers which bitwig doesn't support... I mean Im even a programmer and I have controllers that I haven't even created a script for, just on the account that its a hassle....

One does not need to be a coder to use Moss's Flexi Script.brunomolteni wrote: Mon Mar 30, 2020 11:54 pm I have hope for a better solution to controller Scripts...
