pants,

she's a lesbian, so if you're a female, BEGIN STALKING :)

Peace Beyond Passion is probably one of my top 3 albums of all time! I think I have all her US releases AFAIK, she brings it every album :)
If it sounds good it is good.

Oh yes, she's great. Lots of attitude, lots of really cool (and quite varied) music. No music to enjoy in the background, though, this really wants you to listen! (Which is good :) )

Cheers, Jo

Yeah I know- she goes out with a writer from New York, somewhere on her site there's a link to her girlfriend's book on Amazon LOL.
No I'm not female, i'm gay so I don't think the stalking would get either of us very far :)

She's also in a trio called Plane with guitarist/sound dude David Torn and drummer Wil Calhoun. Unfortunatley, I think they are a trio who only do live gigs (and rarely at that) so I've never actually heard any of it :( Apparently it's pretty damn cool.

I really dig DT and Meshell, so I hope to at least snaffle me a bootleg one day...

Just heard "Wild Night" at work today. The bass is the best/only thing going for it, imo. I haven't heard any of her other stuff, so maybe today has been a sign for me to give a listen.
Anti-aliasing is for "synthmonk%ys".

I think she sucks, but that's just my opinion.

I have Plantation Lullabyes and Peace Beyond Passion - most definitely a fan.

Saw her a few years ago live on American Public Broadcasting - some IBM-sponsored weekly music show I can't remember the name of now. Think she had a 5-piece band at the time. Anyway, they were tight. The in-studio audience just lit up like firecrackers. Great show.
We shall see orchestral machines with a thousand new sounds, with thousands of new euphonies, as opposed to the present day's simple sounds of strings, brass, and woodwinds. -- George Antheil, circa 1925 ---

She did this really nice production job on Nona Gaye's cover version of "Inner City Blues" on a Marvin tribute album - also played bass. there's this bassline I really like of hers that kicks in halfway through : excerpt
