It's totally a matter of taste and application... I bought PhoenixVerb when it was 9 € at Plugin Boutique, tried it briefly, and didn't find much use for it, TBH. On the contrary, i find much use for R2. And especially "spacey" kind of reverbs like Blackhole, Comet, and Raum. So... I really would say you have to demo it, and find out if it works for you. I would imagine that PhoenixVerb works well on percussions, and real instruments. Not so sure about the application on synthesizers. Surely might work, but, IMO, definitely not for everything.

Try before buy.

Michael would argue vehemently but Nimbus is Phoenix v2 and R4 is R2 v2. So if you have Nimbus no need for PhoenixVerb and if you have R4 no need for R2.
I have all four and indeed unless I am opening older projects I never use Phoenixverb or R2 in new projects anymore.

Nimbus is transparent, R4 is more character a la Lexicon.

It is always a matter of taste.
To my taste with the exception of Relab stuff, the EA Reverbs are by miles ahead of any other Software reverb created and (except Relab Sonsig-A) are the only reverbs I use in actual projects for the last 5+ years.

I can clearly see that based on all great replies here.
Nimbus and R4 are most worthy reverb among all EA has to offer.
and often preferred over other reverbs in market.

Just out of interest, by the way, and, not to kidnap this thread... to the guys using PhoenixVerb: What is your usage case for it? When I tried it briefly, it was very clean sounding, and quite subtle for me, and, as mentioned, I had a hard time finding a good application. Should give it more time though, for sure, but, what material do you use PhoenixVerb on?

I can tell you what I used it for and Nimbus too.......
First call for Voice Overs.
First call Classical Guitar
First call Recorded Percussions..

I like to feel reverb more than hear reverb...it is part of the sound but not the sound....I like to liken it to baking a cake with sugar vs adding the sugar as icing after the cake is baked.

For me it is superb for any such applications.... you want to give the sound space and room that sounds a natural part of the sound.

Edit: Just gave it a go on the 606 drumkit in Battery, and, yep, Phoenix works nicely on those percussions.

Ooh this is tempting. Will have a listen first though as I pretty much just use LiquidSonics reverbs 99% of the time.
