I've downloaded and installed the trial on my Win 10 laptop. Authorized online.
But everytime i open Ableton its asking for authorization and then automatically authorize it again.
I've tried rebooting the laptop, run Ableton as admin, and i did "take folders ownership" stuff, but it still doing that authorization thing every time i open the program.
is that normal behaviour or am i missing something ?

Not normal- maybe authorisation sever is overloaded!

Yes, i have found this link - https://help.ableton.com/hc/en-us/artic ... h-Windows-
The problem is that the path C:\ProgramData\Ableton\CommonConfiguration\ don't exist in my computer, maybe they changed something since that troubleshoot tip was written.

Stupid question time. Did you set your laptop to display hidden folders?

ProgramData folder is hidden by default in Windows, so the answer to your question is yes.

Some time ago I had a problem with the web browsers (any of them) and authorizing Live.

Basically had to open the browser AFTER Live was already opened.

If the browser was already opened the authorization didn't work for some reason, had to close the browser, open Live, then open the browser and do the authorization.

I just checked once again (with nothing else opened, not even the browser). Launched Ableton, authorization process launched again. Maybe the trial version is supposed to do that everytime? Btw, i'm very tech savvy so it really buggles me that i can't find the solution for this.

I don't think it asks every time.

But I don't know what it could be causing your problem.

Only thing I can see is that, in your pic, you show the folders inside Live 10 Trial, but (if it exists) "CommonConfiguration" is located in its parent folder, the "Ableton" one.

How weird. Have you contacted support yet? They're usually pretty on the ball ...
I was wondering if deleting the config file would help.

I've made a quick screen capture with OBS for you to see the problem that i'm having

a bit off topic, but i was wondering if ableton gives also something away (like steinberg, native instruments), for users that already have ableton live 10 suite (for example).

yes.

i am not that keen on sound libraries, i don't know this pack. perhaps it is quite nice. i shall try it.
don't know if you can get it, if you have a trial version, for free, seems so.

I don't know why Ableton installs Live in Program Data when the proper location should be Program Files. Maybe you could try uninstall everything, and reinstall, choosing Program Files instead of Program Data.

It's in ProgramData so that automatic updates can be installed without UAC prompts.

I'm safe..

Bitwig does many things so much better that I'll just stick with it and I uninstalled the ableshit.
