Although, concerning the Ovox vs VocalSynth I do see a lot of overlap, but there are differences as well. I don’t think it’s either/or, I think they can compliment each other quite nicely. Providing you have room in the budget for it.
yeah, especially since MIDI Out functionality i changed my position a little
I just discovered "sidechain mode" in vocalsynth (i dont know how i missed this) Where you can use any audio signal as a vocoder for the vocals. very neat trick.

As for sound quality, i'd say they're there there. I don't see Ovox being any smoother sounding than VocalSynth.
Ovox imo seems a better "performance" tool because you can do more stuff easier/quicker since it includes LFOs and arp, but vocalsynth can be tweaked deeper

One good thing about Waves is that they'll likely keep supporting theirs. One thing about iZotope is that they're likely to discontinue theirs as soon as they get bored with it.
This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

Will they?
I mean, you can still install most of iZotope on Catalina with workarounds, for waves you need to pay the upgrade in order to do so iirc.
Also, did iZotope really discontinue that many products?

iZotope have a long history of abandoning software. Sometimes discontinuing altogether.

I don't think Waves ever does. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong though.

i mean it was a paid upgrade to use it on catalina, wasn't it?
some of iZotope's software might be neglected, but i can easily use it on catalina (for free).

although yeah... iZotope neglects some of their software. But so does waves tho, wasn't a lot of their stuff the same as 20 years tho up to very recently?

well, some form of security will migrate to windows sooner rather than later, and it's not like windows didn't have its own share of painful transitions

I am aware it is not officially supported. Just figured I'd ask.
Its NOT WIN7 compatible...sorry (upgrade for free to Windows 10 keeping all your software !! )

Try feeding it talent and creativity.
And you try feeding that snarky bullshit to someone else!

Nothing in the video can't be done with Vocalsynth, and i bet she could knock one out with it as well.
Most of the Izotope Vocalsynth demos I've heard are highly unintelligible. You're better off just using a vocoder or talk box.

I got it on sale yesterday and it's really cool. As others have mentioned can be a really great live performance tool. One major issue though (and I think this applies to all waves) is you can't switch presets via midi. So you would need a different instance (at 10% cpu) for each preset. There goes 90% of its live functionality...

I really love Vocalsynth, but I still will definitely get Ovox.
Cuz two things,
Vocalsynth floors my cpu beyond reason.
This kind of live MIDI out done by Waves is probably something pretty special, if you want it.
